Despite its remarkably small size, the DXC-LS1 comes with a host of advanced features that cannot be found in many larger cameras, plus convenient controls that make shooting virtually automatic. It also includes an RS-232 interface for remote PC control of all camera functions, as well as an on-screen character generator. The supplied CCU incorporates membrane switches for easy control of the on-screen menu functions. Applications Include: Industrial – Outstanding portability and an assortment of optional accessories make the DXC-LS1 an invaluable tool in hazardous and hard-to-reach environments. Microscopy – With a computer interface and a variety of image enhancement features, the DXC-LS1 gives you the precision necessary for critical microscopy applications. Security – The DXC-LS1 can be installed in elevators, hotel lobbies, shop windows, or any place where unobtrusive, high-quality surveillance is required. Sports – Revitalize coverage of sports and other live events with shots from striking new angles. High Performance ■ Consisting of a camera head and CCU, the DXC-LS1 is a marvel of technology and minia- turization. In a camera head only 35mm long and 12mm in diameter is an IT Hyper HAD CCD sensor packed with 380,000 pixels. The CCU incorporates a powerful DSP (Digital Signal Processor) which provides enhanced picture quality, plus the automatic adjustment functions that make the camera so easy to use. ■ Offers 470 lines of horizontal resolution, signal-to-noise ratio of 46 dB and sensitivity of f/5.6 at 2000 lux for outstanding brightness and excellent all-around performance. Color Matrix Technology ■ Completely automatic white balance, plus advanced color matrix technology, sets this cam- era apart. Color matrix technology allows you to adjust colors individually (adjust the R, G, B colors independently without changing the overall white balance) while viewing the monitor. For a vivid lifelike reproduction, the picture is easily adjusted until the object on the screen looks exactly like the one in front of you. Advanced DSP Functions ■ CCD IRIS function, combined with AGC (Automatic Gain Control), to provide automatic control over incoming light. If the object in front of the lens is too bright, the camera automatically switches to a higher shutter speed. If the object is too dark, it automatically increases the gain. The AE (Automatic Exposure) level can be finely adjusted from -60 to +60. The result — pictures that are always perfectly exposed. ■ The DXC-LS1 can distinguish backlit scenes from front lit scenes and compensates by automatically adjusting exposure. ■ The camera can measure light and make Interchangeable Camera Head In case the camera head accidentally gets damaged, only the camera head has to be exchanged – there is no need to purchase a whole new unit. 24 Hour Fax: 800-947-9003 ■ 212-444-5001 exposure adjustments in five different areas (whole picture, small area at center, large area at center, small slit and large slit). Objects in these areas are always appropriately lit, regardless of the brightness of surrounding objects. SONY DXC-LS1 Specialized Functions from 1.00x to 3.00x. This is especially important due to the fact that large zoom lenses cannot be used with a camera as small as the DXC-LS1. ■ Long Term Exposure mode allows you to set the shutter speed manually to 1/60 of a second or more and to specify from 2 to 512 fields when shooting very dark objects. Longer shutter allows more light to accumulate on the CCD, giving you remarkable sensitivity. Shutter speeds range from 1/60 to 1/40,000 of a second. ■ Variable gamma function lets you increase the contrast in lighter or darker parts of the picture, for a clear view of specific details. ■ While viewing the monitor, an Outline ■ Displays Color Bars in three different sizes: Low, Hi and Full mode. The Low and Hi-Screen modes allow adjustments to be made while comparing objects on the screen against color bars. ■ Unique flicker elimination cancels the flicker of fluorescent lights by automatically adjusting gain, freeing the electronic shutter for other uses. Flexible Configurations An on-screen menu gives you access to all of the built-in features. Most times you will have no need for the menu. Just press the Display button on the CCU to call up your favorite settings, and begin shooting. For special situations, you can save up to two sets of menu selections, and call them up at any time. By displaying menus one line at a time, adjustments can also be made while viewing the actual picture on the screen. ■ RS-232 serial interface makes it possible to ■ Black and White mode when you need sharp images free from color noise. 12v DC (From CMA-D2) 9v DC (From AC-E90HG) Image Device: 1⁄4˝ 768 x 493 pixel IT CCD Resolution: 470 Horizontal Lines S/N Ratio: 46 dB Minimum Lux: 10 Lux synchronized with other equipment in professional production environments. ■ Has two composite video outputs (BNC and a 12-pin multi-connector), as well as an S-Video output. Whether your application is microscopy, robotics, surface mount inspection, medical, factory automation, quality control, machine vision or high speed analysis, there is a camera with the combination of features and performance to meet your requirements. There are 3-CCD cameras for exceptional clarity and color reproduction, a selection of color and B&W micro-cameras as small as 8.6mm in diameter, and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) cameras with advanced electronic features for fast setup. There are also computer compatible cameras with square pixels and multiple signal outputs, including RGB. GP-KS162 1/2-inch CCD Color Micro Camera A breakthrough in micro-cameras, the GP-KS162 allows you to swap heads, virtually eliminating down-time in the event of camera head malfunction. Accepting 1⁄2˝ and 1⁄4˝ head modules, it is ideal for virtually any conceivable micro-camera application. With a camera head only 2/3˝ in diameter and 13⁄8˝ long (with 1/2˝ head module – even smaller with GPKS462HM), the GP-KS162 is ideal for endoscopic vision, Shown here with optional lens and cable non-destructive analysis and surface mount inspection. RGB Digital Signal Processing (DSP), S-Video output, 480 lines of resolution, 50dB S/N ratio and superb color reproduction, all make this the ideal camera for numerous medical and industrial applications. Optional camera cables allow extended CCU connection of up to 33 feet. Accepts a C-mount adapter, as well as a variety of optional lenses. Digital Signal Processing An analog to digital (A-D) converter in the camera (or CCU) converts an analog signal to digital (0’s and 1’s). The video signal remains digital for processing within the camera until it finally passes through a digital to analog (D-A) converter for video output. The advantage of DSP over conventional analog processing is that DSP provides for lossless maintenance of the video signal during processing. Analog signals are subject to variation, and as a result, to video noise (signal degradation). DSP eliminates the possibility of video noise by encoding the incoming video signal with values that remain unchanged during processing within the camera. GP-KS1000 1/2-inch CCD Color Micro Camera The GP-KS1000 is a single-CCD camera that performs like it has three! With 900,000 pixels, it approaches 3-CCD like color saturation, delivers 560 lines of horizontal resolution and offers a high S/N ratio of 54 dB. This is accomplished with a high density CCD (830 x 970 effective pixel) array and through the innovative use of RGB filtering technology. And like the GP-KS162, the GP-KS1000 is equipped with RGB Digital Signal Processing for superb color reproduction. A camera with Reset function (also known as Asynchronous Vertical Reset) immediately resets its scanning from the beginning upon receiving an external trigger. This allows fast-moving objects to be captured instantaneously for quality inspection. Typical applications include inspection on any mass produced object on an assembly line: Parts, bottles, cans, printed circuit boards, ICs, labels, etc. Generally, a camera with Reset function is used in conjunction with an image capture board inside a PC. Super-Reset just does it better, with virtually no delay after the trigger signal. Reset Time Delay=0 Image scanning start Image scanning starts quickly after reset. 1H=0.5 sec fixed Catch all data on high speed moving object. No delay after reset. Competitive cameras may have up to 1 field (262H) delay, while current Panasonic cameras like the MF-602 and the new GPMF130 have only a one line (1H) delay, and the GP-MF622 has virtually no delay. Notes about Panasonic Cameras All cameras, except the GP-KS1000, GP-US522H/GP-US532H and GP-MF852, can be used with the Panasonic WV-PS12 AC adapter. The above mentioned cameras require a DC, 12v 1 amp power supply, not sold by Panasonic. All cameras use standard C-mount lenses, while the GP-US522H needs special C-Mount lenses. The special C-Mount has exactly the same diameter and thread pitch as a conventional C-mount, but the number of threads are limited because the camera does not allow a larger than 3.5mm protrusion – 3.6 mm is the absolute limit. If it is longer than that, the lens threads will hit and break the prism. Call us for a list of available lenses. We Exhibit At NAB, Infocomm, and Siggraph PA N A S O N I C GP-MF602 1/2-inch CCD B/W Machine Vision Camera CCD CAMERAS The GP-MF602 is an extremely durable, high resolution C-mount CCD camera, built to withstand the rigors of harsh industrial environments. Operating temperature range of 14-122° and terrific rejection to shock and vibration make it ideal for high speed production line analysis, machine vision, image processing or virtually any high-speed motion application requiring high quality imaging under adverse conditions. Featuring Field/Frame Integration mode, Frame Reset/Electronic Shutter Trigger modes and Sensor Gate Control, the GP-MF602 provides complete control over video image capture. Measures 44mm x 29mm x 72mm (W x H x D). FEATURES Field/Frame Integration Genlockable 570 lines of horizontal resolution, 56 dB signal-to-noise ratio and 0.5 lux minimum scene illumination at f/1.4. Allows users the choice of capturing still images in either Field mode (offers lower overall resolution of 380 vertical lines, but rock solid steadiness for high motion video), or Frame mode (which offers highest resolution of 485 vertical lines) and is best used for still video imaging applications. Provides a means for synchronizing the timing of various video components. Horizontal and Vertical Drive inputs further provide an interface for an asynchronous trigger system used in high speed assembly line production. Non-interlace Scanning In Field mode, non-interlace scanning is possible with the introduction of a NonInterlace External VD (Vertical Drive) signal. (The required VD range is 256, 262 horizontal lines.) Frame Reset Mode Frame Reset mode is utilized primarily in high speed assembly line production. In this mode, an external frame grabber, synchronized with a strobe light, triggers the camera to capture crystal clear jitterfree video. Pedestal Level Control Manual control of the pedestal allows for raising or lowering the video signals black level. Shutter Trigger Mode In Field Integration Reset modes, Shutter Trigger mode is an asynchronous strobe effect used in high speed video acquisition. Externally triggered, the Shutter Trigger mode effectively shutters the odd fields of video to produce crystal clear jitter-free video. Electronic Shutter High speed electronic shutter speeds, from 1/125 to 1/10000 of a second. Also offers manual Gain Control and switchable Gamma of 1.0 or 0.6. Sensor Gate Control Sensor Gate Control is whereby the charges on the photo diodes are transferred to the V-CCD by the sensor gate pulse. (SG status is externally controllable.) Sensor Gate Control offers 2 applications: – Asynchronous Strobe Light: Since it is prohibited to fire the strobe light at the timing of SG, the Sensor Gate Control enables the use of an asynchronous strobe light, with the control of the video output timing generated by the strobe. – Extended Exposure: A shutter speed longer than 1/30 of a second can be acquired with the Sensor Gate Control. This is useful for increasing sensitivity. Already ideal for industrial video applications such as computer imaging, scientific research, video conferencing and industrial inspection, the DXC-950 incorporates new functions like Flash Synchronization and a Three-Pattern Light Metering System for photo-proofing and microscope applications. Other features include Power HAD CCD sensors for superior picture quality of 750 horizontal lines and 60 dB signal-to-noise ratio. There are multiple component, RGB, composite and S-Video signal outputs, and all functions can be easily controlled from the camera’s rear panel. The camera can also be controlled via the optional RM-C950 Remote Control, CCU-M5 or by computer via the RS-232 port. FEATURES 30 Superior Picture Quality ■ The DXC-950 incorporates 1/2˝ IT (Interline Transfer) Power HAD CCDs with 380,000 pixels to achieve a high sensitivity of F9.5 at 2000 lux, while drastically reducing the smear level by 20 dB. This permits the highest quality image capture, even in very difficult lighting conditions. ■ High resolution of 750 lines is obtained with the DXC-950’s high density CCDs and accurate spatial offset, while the combination of Power HAD technology, improved electronic circuitry and advanced video processing results in an excellent signal-to-noise ratio of 60 dB. CCD Integration Modes ■ Switch between Field or Frame CCD Integration modes using the function menu buttons on the camera, or by using the optional RM-C950 Controller. ■ Field Integration is effective for capturing moving objects. Since the charge is only integrated over one field (1/60 of a second), motion blur is reduced. Frame Integration mode on the other hand, integrates the charge of each horizontal pixel line for 1/30 of a second, resulting in higher vertical resolution than Field Integration. Frame Integration mode is ideal for use in still image capture. Multiple Signal Outputs CCD Iris Function ■ CCD Iris function automatically controls exposure by electronically adjusting for incoming light levels. This function is equivalent to six F-stops in lens iris and is effective in microscope applications. It enables the DXC-950 to adjust the incoming light level automatically, even when using a less costly microscope adapter without Auto Iris level control. When the CCD Iris function is used with an auto iris lens and AGC (Automatic Gain Control) function, an even wider range of incoming light levels can be accommodated. We Ship Worldwide ■ In addition to a composite (BNC) out- put, the DXC-950 has a 9-pin connector for component and RGB output. S-Video and composite are also simultaneously available from the 9-pin and can be selected via the Menu Control buttons or with the RM-C950. A sync signal can also be added onto the G output signal, so that an image processing or analysis system without a separate sync signal input can be used. The flexibility provided by the DXC-950’s multiple outputs makes it easy to install into a wide range of system configurations and facilitates image capture by a computer or VCR. Variable Speed Shutter ■ Variable high speed shutter for clear, blur- free capture of fast moving objects. In addition to conventional shutter speed selection (1/100 to 1/10,000 of a second), functions like Long Term Exposure and Clear Scan are available by manually selecting shutter speeds in 1 frame or 1 H steps respectively. ■ Long Term Exposure -shutter speed (charge accumulation time) is selectable from 1 to 255 frames (field mode) or 2 to 256 frames (frame mode) in one frame steps. This provides remarkable enhancement in sensitivity by accumulating the charge on the CCDs over a longer time than normal, allowing dark objects to be clearly recorded. In addition, synchronizing the timing of the camera signal output with an external memory, like Sony’s DKR-700, makes Long Term Exposure very effective in image processing or image analysis applications. ■ Clear Scan allows shutter speeds to be changed from 260/525 to 1/525 H in 1H (63.5us) steps, or by an eight-step speed selection — ideal for shooting computer monitors without flicker scrolling across the screen. Clear Scan enables the DXC-950 to match its shutter speed with the computer monitor’s scanning frequency. SONY DXC-950 Precise Picture Controls ■ The DXC-950 provides precise camera ■ Linear Matrix function provides sophisti- cated electronic adjustments for accurate color reproduction. Can be used to color match two or more cameras. ■ Shading Compensation provides uni- formed brightness for images displayed on the screen. In the past, integrating film photography with video capture was an exercise in futility and exhaustion. Detailed and accurate information were needed regarding the film camera’s shutter, as well as board-level expertise with a computer. With the DXC950, Sony makes it effortless. Compact and lightweight, the DXC-950 can be mounted together with your camera and sees what the film sees. This makes syncing to your film camera’s strobes easier, cleaner and more cost-effective than ever. In Slave mode, you use your film camera like you normally would, while an optical sensor attached to the DXC-950 automatically detects your strobe and simultaneously triggers a frame capture. In Master mode, you use the DXC-950 to trigger strobe, film camera and video frame grabber. CCD CAMERAS control with advanced functions, such as Linear Matrix, Shading Compensation, Master Pedestal, Gamma Selection and Detail level, ensuring reproduction of optimal image color and contrast – whatever the situation might be. Master Pedestal, Detail and Gain are easily adjusted with the optional RM-C950 remote control unit, without having to display the menu screen to make changes. Master/Slave Synchronization — Film and Electronics in Perfect Sync Whether you choose Master or Slave mode, there is no physical connection to bother with. Its integration is simple, and you always get the same superb picture quality. ■ Detail level allows adjustment of the ■ Selectable Knee Position - In addition to the normal position, two knee positions are available (Lower Knee Point and Gentle Knee) for an area of highlight in the picture to be reproduced more clearly. White Balance Control ■ The DXC-950 has three white balance con- trol modes: AWB, ATW and Manual (R/B Gain). AWB and ATW can be readjusted more precisely with R/B Paint function. ➤ AWB (Auto White Balance): For easy setup, automatically white balances the camera and memorizes adjusted settings. ➤ R/B Paint: When you are not content with the automatic white balance adjustments from the AWB or ATW mode, the white balance can be readjusted more precisely using the Red and Blue level controls. ➤ ATW (Auto Tracing White Balance): Adjusts the white balance automatically, in response to the varying light conditions. ➤ Manual (R/B Gain): White balance can be adjusted manually using the Red and Blue Gain level controls in accordance Flash Synchronization ■ Ideal for photo proofing or machine inspection, the DXC-950’s dual mode flash synchronization (master/slave) enables external light sources to be synchronized to the DXC-950, without using costly external timing circuits Three-Pattern Metering ■ When you want to observe a spot, it is possible to concentrate light onto a specific area of the CCD for evaluation. Depending on the size of the object being evaluated, three-pattern light metering areas-–large (75%), medium (50%) and spot (25%)–can be chosen. This enables better capture of images in an area and is ideal for microscope applications. On-Screen Menu ■ Camera control functions are easily set by the Menu/Function/Data buttons on the camera, the RM-C950 Remote Control or an external computer. The menu can be displayed on a monitor via component, Y/C, RGB or composite outputs. ■ Menu screens are divided into four groups for easy setup: Exposure, Color, General and System. You can preset two patterns menus (A or B) respectively and choose with the Memory Bank function. Additional Features ● RS-232 interface allows remote control from an external computer. ● Generates SMPTE Color Bars for system and monitor adjustment. Video Print Function ■ A print button located on the DXC-950 (and the RM-C950) sends a print command to a connected video printer. Ideal for one man operation, you can even print from another room. As proofs, video prints help you sell faster and more effectively while the moment is fresh — great revenue opportunity for theme parks, resorts and catering halls. ● Genlock capability for synchronization with video or blackburst signals from other equipment. SONY DXC-9000 32 CCD CAMERAS 1/2-inch Progressive Scan 3-CCD Color Camera Equipped with Progressive Scan technology, the revolutionary DXC-9000 captures high speed moving objects clearly with high horizontal and vertical resolution. The camera also has a built-in memory, providing three types of output signals including VGA, while Field and Frame output signals allow the camera to maintain complete system compatibility with existing video equipment. Other unique feature include the utilization of square pixels, making the DXC-9000 ideal for computerized image processing. To significantly enhance operational convenience, the camera offers special features, such as Freeze Control, long term exposure and an external trigger shutter function. And like the DXC-950, all DXC-9000 functions are easily controlled from the camera’s rear panel; the optional RM-C950 Remote Control Unit; the CCU-M5; or by an external computer via the RS-232 interface. With outstanding picture performance and a unique feature set, the DXC-9000 is ideal for computer imaging, scientific research, distance learning, video microscopy and industrial inspection (amusement parks, highways, etc.). FEATURES 3-CCDs With Square Pixels Three Types of Outputs Three 1/2˝ IT Hyper HAD 330,000 pixel CCDs, each with spatial offset technology provide 700 lines of horizontal resolution, sensitivity of F 5.6 at 2000 lux and a 58 dB S/N ratio. The CCDs use square pixels, thus eliminating the necessity to adjust aspect ratio when images are captured and manipulated in a computer. The DXC-9000 has a built-in memory enabling a frame (two fields) image to be stored. By selecting or combining the image data in the memory, the following outputs are available. Progressive Scan CCDs Using Progressive Scan CCDs, the DXC9000 outputs all electric charges accumulated every 1/60 of a second, providing a complete frame. Conventional CCDs use half of the electric charges taken from one image every 1/60 of a second to form an odd field, and half the electric charges taken from the next image 1/60 of a second later, to form one frame. As a result, using the Progressive Scan CCDs in combination with a frame memory, the DXC-9000 can capture full frame image in 1/60 of a second to provide a high vertical and dynamic resolution image. This enables the camera to provide blur-free, clear images of fast-moving objects without a mechanical shutter. 2:1 Interlace Scanning: Non-Interlace Scanning: Normal Mode (RGB, Composite/S-Video): VGA Mode (640 x 480) RGB only The odd field is taken from the first image 1/60 of a second, and the even field is provided from the next image 1/60 of a second later. The odd and even field are output one after another, then interlaced together to form one frame. This is the traditional scanning method used in NTSC color cameras. Frame Shutter Mode (RGB, Composite/S-Video): Both the odd and even field are taken from the same image in 1/60 of a second. The even field is placed in the memory and output after the odd field, then interlaced together in accordance with the 2:l interlace scanning system. Even when a high-speed moving object is shot, each frame image is clear, because both the odd field and the following even field are from the same image. 24 Hour Fax: 800-947-9003 ■ 212-444-5001 A VGA signal using RGB output can be used with computer display devices in a non-interlace scanning system. In VGA mode, both the odd and even field are output from the DXC-9000 within 1/60 of a second. This is made possible by increasing the horizontal scan rate. With the VGA output, high-quality pictures without blur are displayed on multi-scan monitors and multi-scan printers. The sharpness and clearness of VGA output is especially obvious, for example, when shooting small letters typed on a piece of paper, or when capturing a still image of a fast-moving object. VGA is ideal for motion analysis or monitoring images on a projector. SONY DXC-9000 Additional Features Frame Memory Capability These are the same as the DXC-950, see previous page for descriptions Long Term Exposure: A moving image can be captured as a still image by pressing the Freeze button on the camera's rear panel or the RM-C950. Pressing the Source button cancels the freeze, and a live image is output. If necessary, still images can be automatically output by setting the onscreen menu. Two modes are provided: The shutter speed (charge accumulation time) can be selected from 1 to 255 frames in one-frame steps or 15 steps from 0.1 to 8.0 seconds.* The charge accumulation on the CCDs over a longer period than normal provides a remarkable enhancement in sensitivity. This feature is especially ideal for microscope and surveillance applications, because objects in the dark can be clearly captured. Continuous Freeze Mode: Still images captured in memory are continuously output. Source/Freeze Mode: Still images and live images are alternately output. (The cycle can be set within a range of 2 frames to 10 minutes. Weighing only 1.2kg it incorporates high definition technology to deliver 1000 TV lines of resolution and to provide images that are clear, detailed and true-to-life accurate. Ideal for installation where space is at a premium, the DXC-H10 can capture images from locations that were previously difficult or impossible for other bulkier high definition cameras. The DXCH10 is suitable for microscope, photo and portrait, and surveillance applications. Affordably priced and portable, the DXC-H10 can be used to complement or even substitute existing camera systems, making its potential uses almost limitless. FEATURES Precise Picture Controls HDVS Resolution 36 ■ HDVS (High Definition Video System) is different from conventional video transmission systems, such as NTSC or PAL. It contains five times more information than conventional TV systems (2,000,000 pixels compared to roughly 410,000 pixels), enabling it to produce very detailed and life-like images. ■ The DXC-H10 incorporates three newly developed 2/3˝ IT (Interline Transfer) Hyper HAD (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCDs with 2,000,000 effective picture elements, producing a horizontal resolution of 1000 TV lines. Hyper HAD CCDs provide sensitivity of up to f/8.0 at 2,000 lux, while drastically reducing the vertical smear level. This enables images of very high quality to be captured in difficult lighting conditions. Flash Synchronization Function ■ Flash synchronization is possible by directly connecting a flash unit to the camera. Flash synchronization enables the DXC-H10 to be used in portrait applications. When synchronizing a flash with the DXC-H10 and connecting it with a monitor or printer, every shot can be immediately identified. When pushing the trigger button on the camera’s rear panel or remote control unit, the connected external flash unit detects the synchronization pulse and fires a flash (Flash Meter mode). SM ® ® ■ Provides precise camera control with functions such as Linear Matrix Circuit, Vertical Shading Compensation, Advanced Detail, Master Pedestal and Negative/Positive mode. – Linear Matrix (On/Off): Provides electronic adjustments for accurate color reproduction. – Vertical Shading Compensation (Manual): Electronically compensates for color shading to provide uniform brightness. – Advanced Detail Control (Manual): Adjusts sharpness of object outlines with minimal noise, using digital filter technology. – Knee (Auto/High/Low): Makes bright and non-defined areas become more clearly visible and defined. – Negative/Positive Mode: Negative scenes can be shot positive, or vice-versa. ■ Three different white balance settings are also available, in order to meet a variety of shooting conditions. – AWB (Auto White Balance): Memorizes the adjusted white balance value. – ATW (Auto Tracing White Balance): Adjusts white balance automatically in response to varying light conditions. This mode is used when the light source frequently changes. – Master Pedestal: Enables Black/dark area of the picture to be seen more clearly. Advanced Auto Exposure Modes AE automatically adjusts incoming light, combining the CCD Iris function, AGC (Automatic Gain Control) function, and Auto Iris function of the lens. When shooting in the AE mode, you can choose from four different light metering methods: Multi, Average, Spot, and Peak mode. ■ Average Mode: Adjusts the light based on the average brightness of the whole picture. into nine sections and adjusts auto exposure according to the lumi■ Spot Mode: Makes light adjustments based on nance level in each section. Particularly useful in microscope applications, because you can adjust the image while concentrating on the pictures. (See next page for complete description). ■ MVA-690 Microscope Adapter: Specially designed for use with the DXC-H10 and Zeiss microscopes. You have the option of using two supplied lenses: The attached 85mm f/6.8 lens or the 70mm F5.6 lens. You can also use the MVA-20 and MVA-31/33. (See page 40 for description). ■ Variable speed electronic shutter makes it possible to capture blur-free, clear pictures of the fastest moving objects. Ten different speeds are available: 1/100 (flickerless mode) up to an astounding 1/100,000 of a second. ■ DSC-1024HD Digital Scan Converters: This versatile upward and down- ward digital scan converters makes it possible to convert HD video signals to other conventional signals, allowing the total integration of video signals. Features include adjustable aspect ratios and on-screen display for adjustment and operation. (See full description at the end of the projector section.) ■ Clear Scan function enables a computer display screen to be shot without horizontal lines appearing across the display screen. To use the Clear Scan function, simply match the DXC-H10 shutter speed with the scanning frequency of the computer display. CCD CAMERAS electronically adjusting incoming light levels and is equivalent to seven F-stops in a lens iris. The CCD Iris function is particularly effective in microscope applications, as it enables the DXC-H10 to adjust the incoming light level automatically, even when using a basic microscope adapter which does not have auto iris level control. Optional Accessories ■ CMA-H10 Camera Adapter: Allows camera operation up to 330 feet away. ■ Long Term Exposure function: The charge accumula- 37 tion time can be selected from 1 to 255 frames (Field mode) or 2 to 256 frames (Frame mode) in one-frame steps. This provides higher sensitivity by accumulating the charge on the CCDs over a longer period than normal. This feature is ideal for microscope and surveillance applications, because objects in the dark and other nonilluminated objects can be clearly captured. ■ Other electronic shutter functions include External Trigger Shutter, LTR (Long Term Reset), RR (Restart). SONY DKR-700 Digital Still Recorder (For use with the DXC-950 Only) CCD CAMERAS The DKR-700 is a high resolution, digital still image recorder that can store up to 1000 digital images from a variety of analog and digital sources onto a data MiniDisc (MD). With the ability to handle both digital and analog signals, along with its superior picture quality, high capacity and ease-of-use, the versatile DKR-700 is an ideal solution for applications ranging from photo studios to industrial microscopy. With it, you can capture images from virtually any device, store them efficiently, edit them on a computer FEATURES Quick Playback DKR-700/DXC-950 Combo MD media provides 140 MB of storage capacity, allowing the DKR-700 to store and play back up to 1000 images of standard video stills on a single disc. And like its musical counterpart, MD is durable and can be written to, thousands of times without degradation. The DKR-700 uses both JPEG compression and the Picture MD format for global compatibility. Finding stored images is easy with the DKR-700. Its quick playback accesses an image in less than 0.5 seconds, and a special image search displays 25 thumbnail images at a time. In addition, each image can be tagged with a unique ID number, a file name and date, as well as comments, such as exposure data. Combine the DKR-700 with the DXC-950 for increased versatility. The camera’s long exposure function (up to 8.5 seconds) can be synchronized with the DKR-700 to optimize capture of images in low light situations. Particularly useful when shooting objects under a low-illumination fluorescence microscope. And the camera can be instructed to begin recording by a signal from the recorder, resulting in optimum recording timing. Four Recording Modes Auto Record/Playback Function The DKR-700 offers a choice of four recording modes. All modes feature 480 lines of horizontal resolution for superior picture quality. Chroma resolution power is at least 3 MHz and 24-bit sampling. – Non-Compression Mode: Allows 100 TIFF images at the highest resolution on a single mini disc. – Fine Mode: 500 images in 5:1 JPEG format – Normal Mode: 700 images in 8:1 JPEG – Quick Mode: 1000 images at the lowest resolution in 8:1 Picture MD format. Inputs/Outputs For optimum connectivity, the recorder is equipped with composite, S-Video and analog RGB inputs and outputs. It also incorporates both an RS-232 and SCSI port, allowing sophisticated recording control from a computer and the ability to quickly and easily transfer images to and from computers for manipulation, transfer and storage. The Auto Record/Playback function allows sequential playback or recording of all images. Each image can be played back for a specific time, and the interval between images can also be identified — an ideal advantage for shop displays, product presentations, security applications or when proofing images quickly. Foot Switch The DKR-700/DXC-950 can be automatically triggered by an optional external strobe sensor unit. Synchronized exposures with virtually any strobe unit fired by a film camera offers clear advantages in applications like easy photo proofing in a photo studio, pre-press proofing and industrial inspection.
