VentPac AFSM Service
Stimulation VentPac AFSM Service Enables Higher Production Rates and Enhanced Reserves Recovery Through Vent Screen Completions ent screen completions are a reliable method of improving workover and completion economics. With this method, zones previously bypassed as uneconomical to complete may now, in many cases, be effectively monetized. VentPac AFSM service offers important benefits compared to conventional vent screen completions: V Higher production rates while maintaining mechanical integrity. HAL12217 Completions using VentPac AF service are, in some cases, producing over 30 MMscfd compared to a maximum of only 6 to 8 MMscfd from conventional vent screen completions while maintaining mechanical integrity of the completion. Higher production rates can result in enhanced reserves recovery, accelerated cash flow and improved NPV of the completions. Vent screen completions using VentPac AF service provide an engineered completion design and a more durable pack that enables higher flow rates and more Enhanced conductivity and fines control. Halliburton’s exclusive AntifluidizationSM service technology enhances pack conductivity and helps control fines migration and pack plugging. Unmatched execution. Halliburton is the industry dependable completions than with leader in vent screen completions and has installed more successful high rate completions than any other service company. conventional methods. Plus, VentPac AF service takes full advantage of Halliburton’s industry-leading experience in Predictable production rate window. designing and installing vent Conventional completions require trial and error to determine a workable flow rate. The design capability included in VentPac AF service enables accurate prediction of a production range that will take full advantage of the completion’s capabilities. Trial and error methods that risk pack failure are not necessary. screen completions. Wireline Fishing Neck Reduced time exposure. Faster reserves recovery Bow Spring Centralizers reduces the risk of completion failure. HAL12218 more durable pack provided by VentPac AF service means flow rate doesn’t have to be restricted in case of a screenout, planned or unplanned. In addition, this feature may eliminate the need for coiled tubing cleanouts. Cn00845 Higher production rates even with incomplete blank section coverage. The Close, multiple stacked pays can be completed independently if necessary. VentPac AF service enables running a shorter, more compact completion assembly, enabling close pay to be completed. HALLIBURTON Proper design and the durable pack provided by VentPac AF service enhance completion reliability. Failure of a rigless completion may result in a much more expensive rig-based intervention including a side-track. Conventional completions usually result in lower rates (high skin) due to ineffective near wellbore stimulation. VentPac AF service provides a properly designed blank VentPac AF service can be tailored to well conditions. Depending on the level of flow velocity and the probability of proppant pack fluidization, one of several versions of VentPac AF service can be applied for an optimum completion: • VentPac AF - LR for low production velocity completions that may or may not require Antifluidization service and that require a modest amount of engineering design. section, critical to a vent screen completion. Blank section • VentPac AF - MR for medium production velocity length and diameter are functions of flow rate, fluid completions that require moderate performance properties, casing size and well deviation. In addition, Antifluidization technology increases the cohesive forces between pack grains to stabilize the pack, reducing the risk of mechanical failure. Antifluidization service and typical engineering design. • VentPac AF – HR for high production velocity completions that require high performance Antifluidization service and extensive engineering design. Well suited for monobore and deepwater applications. The effectiveness of VentPac AF service makes the technique an optimum monobore sand control completion. Plus, operators are planning deepwater projects to include future high-rate vent screen recompletions using VentPac AF service. • VentPac AF – EHR for extremely high production velocity completions that require advanced Antifluidization service and leading-edge engineering design. These classifications can generally be determined based on anticipated flow rates and casing size. See Figure 1. The casing size was 7 in. and the blank size was 1.660 in. The graph plots the rate of the well’s producing relative to the fluidization point (i.e. failure point). The graph shows the varying versions of the VentPac AF system and the associated achievable maximum production rates. Case History: GOM - Vent Screen Completion using VentPac AF Service Achieves Over 30 MMscfd Production Rate Hydrocarbons in this field are located in fault trap reservoirs and are normally pressured and produced by a water drive mechanism. The operator’s development strategy involves developing deep oil reserves and exploiting shallow gas reservoirs. For the shallow gas completions, the operator requires a process that is economical in comparison with current rig rates, minimizes mechanical risk, and does not sacrifice the best practices developed for sand control completions in that area. For this well, Halliburton recommended VentPac AF service for a single-trip, coiled-tubing- deployed, rigless completion. SM First, DepthPro wireless casing collar locator service was used for depth control. Then, the lower depleted interval was plugged by setting a cement retainer and squeezing. On the next run, Vanngun® TCP guns and the screen section were run in tandem. The spent TCP guns were set down on the cement retainer and used as a base for the screen. A vent screen completion using VentPac AF and Ex-tension PacSM services was then performed using the dual injection method at 10 bpm. Results: Over a 5-day period the choke size was increased and a peak production rate was gauged at 30 BOPD / 30.1 MMscfd / 0 BWPD with FTP of 1,964 psig. The well was considered to be producing at an optimum rate based on pack fluidization. The peak gas production rate for this well represents the third-highest peak gas production rate in the field. Although the well watered out after 90 days, the high production rate made the completion economical. Over the course of producing the well, no gravel or produced sand was ever noted in any shake-out taken on the well’s liquid production. VentPac AFSM service offers important benefits compared to conventional vent screen completions: • Higher production rates while maintaining mechanical integrity. • Enhanced conductivity and fines control. • Unmatched execution. • Predictable production rate window. • Reduced time exposure. • Higher production rates even with incomplete blank section coverage. • Close, multiple stacked pays can be completed independently if necessary.
