Charles Rennie Mackintosh was the undisputed master of
Glasgow Style. This style of Art Nouveau received international
recognition through the work of artists such as Mackintosh, Margaret and Francis MacDonald, Herbert McNair, Jessie M. King,
Talwin Morris, George Walton and James Salmon in both architecture and the applied arts. This legacy is apparent today in
Glasgow’s pre-eminent role as host to Scotland’s vibrant creative
industries and an art and design culture that has enabled the
city’s post-industrial regeneration.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh fut le maître incontesté du « Glasgow
Style ». Ce courant de l’Art nouveau a été reconnu à l’échelle
internationale grâce au travail d’artistes tels que Mackintosh,
Margaret et Francis Mac Donald, Herbert Mc Nair, Jessie M. King,
Talwin Morris, George Walton et James Salmon en ce qui concerne l’architecture comme les arts appliqués. L’ héritage de
cette époque est illustré aujourd’hui par le rôle prééminent joué
par Glasgow en tant que lieu d’accueil des entreprises écossaises
les plus créatives, ainsi que d’une culture de l’art et du design
