Born as the youngest into a family of 3 girls,
Judy spent her early years in various military
settings until her British father retired from
the military in 1968. Judy received her
Bachelor of Nursing degree from UNB and
worked in orthopedics, pediatrics, nursery,
the high-risk nursery and on a female
medical floor prior to joining the teaching
staff at the Bathurst School of Nursing
(EIBSN). Judy taught first year nursing at
EIBSN for 12 years and loved every minute
of it. While teaching Judy furthered her
studies, working towards her Masters in
Adult Education. Judy started at Westford
Nursing Home as the Director of Nursing in
January 1991 and became the Administrator
in 1992. Judy is a prior member of the
NBANH Board of Directors and rejoins with
enthusiasm. These are challenging but
exciting times and she looks forward to
working with the Board and all stakeholders
to ensure that our nursing homes are able to
meet the needs of our frail residents in a
safe, respectful and sustainable fashion.
Née la plus jeune de trois sœurs, Judy a
passé ses premières années dans divers
milieux militaires avant que son père,
originaire du Royaume-Uni, ne se retire des
forces en 1968.
Judy a obtenu un diplôme en sciences
infirmières de l’université du NouveauBrunswick et a travaillé en orthopédie, en
pédiatrie, à la pouponnière, à la pouponnière
pour nourrissons à risque élevé et dans un
bloc médical pour femmes avant de se
joindre au personnel enseignant de la
Bathurst School of Nursing (EIBSN). Elle a
enseigné pendant 12 ans aux étudiants de
première année en sciences infirmières, et en
a été passionnée à chaque instant. Judy a
continué de poursuivre ses études tout en
enseignant, désirant obtenir sa maîtrise en
éducation des adultes. Judy est devenue
directrice des soins infirmiers à la Westford
Nursing Home en 1991, pour ensuite en
devenir l’administratrice en 1992. Judy a
déjà fait partie du conseil d’administration
de l’AFSNB, et c’est avec enthousiasme
qu’elle s’y joint à nouveau. Il y a des défis à
l’horizon, mais également des possibilités
exaltantes, et elle a hâte de travailler avec le
conseil et tous les intervenants afin d’assurer
que les foyers de soins puissent répondre
aux besoins de nos résidents à la santé
fragile, le tout dans la sécurité, le respect et
la durabilité.
