DEAR TICA NORTHEAST REGION
My name is Aline Noel Garel and I am running for Northeast
Regional Director. I have a long history in the cat fancy. In 1979, I
was one of the founders of the Sphynx breed and I still breed them
under AMENOPHIS cattery name. I have also bred Siamese and
Orientals and I currently own a Burmese. I worked for 22 years as a
Veterinary Tech. I have written two books on cats and many breeds
articles for several publications and for Royal Canin. I have been an
Allbreed Judge in the traditional system since 1978. On a visit to the
USA, I met Peter and Vicky Markstein and they introduced me to the
world of TICA through the fabulous New York show in Madison
Square Garden. It was my pleasure to be accepted as a TICA
Allbreed Judge in 1988 and I was even more pleased when I was
voted Judge of the Year in 2010. In 1989, with my husband, Philippe, we started the French
Connection Association. This was the first TICA club overseas and we put on the first TICA
shows in Europe. It was a hard work, but a fantastic challenge to open Europe to TICA and to
help TICA take the first steps in Europe.
I was the liaison between the USA and Europe since serving as the first Regional Director of
Europe, then Europe South when TICA decided to split this enormous region with multiple
languages and cultures. I enjoyed this job and I think I can say, in all modesty, that I helped
TICA to get off to a good start in Europe. When I moved to Canada in 2003, Genevieve
Basquine became the Europe South Regional Director.
Many years ago, I started working part-time for the LOOF (the pedigree registry in France)
verifying the genetics and colors on pedigrees and registrations. While I have to be in France
one week per month for this job, the other weeks I work at home in Magog. This gives me
plenty of time for all of you.
It took some time for me to learn about my new region with its two countries and two
languages, but I now feel ready to run for Northeast Regional Director.
If you give me your confidence, I will focus on :
 Supporting the efforts of breeders and clubs in our region.
 Promoting our shows and increasing the number of NE members.
 Involving the members on issues the Board will be discussing and deciding.
 Participating in the decisions of the Board of Directors, preserving at best and in the
public interest, the wishes of the members.
 Keeping the lines of communication open and reporting back to the region on decisions
made in the Board meetings and other issues of importance.
My experience and my investment in TICA is strong and I want to become more involved for
the region.
I am taking a chance on running for NE Regional Director. Give me the chance and vote for
