PRESS INFORMATION To: Date: News Desk From: Christine Doyle Thursday 1st May 2014 Tel: 07769738180 Coventry Cathedral’s summer programme of organ concerts begins on Monday 5th May at 1pm The annual programme of Coventry Cathedral’s Monday lunchtime organ concerts begins on the Bank Holiday (5th May) with the concert given by their own Director of Music - Kerry Beaumont. Kerry Beaumont will be performing ‘Ei Du feiner Reiter’ by Scheidt, ‘Offerte “Vive le Roy!”’ by Raison, ‘Toccata’ by Gigout and ‘Rumba sur les Grands Jeux’ by Cholley. The concert will begin at 1pm. “Throughout the summer months the lunchtime organ concerts are always very popular,” comments the Reverend Canon David Stone, Canon Precentor, “The organists involved throughout the series are distinguished artists who come from all over the country to show what our unique instrument has to offer. They will be playing a wide range of pieces – many of which are well-known but I’m delighted to see that the series includes a number of compositions that will perhaps be new to our appreciative audience.” Admission to the lunchtime concerts is free of charge. For details of all the lunchtime concerts, visit www.coventrycathedral.org.uk or pick up a leaflet at the Cathedral entrance or Gift Shop. -endsNotes to Editors The programme of concerts for the summer series is below: 5 May Kerry Beaumont (Coventry Cathedral) Ei Du feiner Reiter (Scheidt) Offerte “Vive le Roy!” (Raison) Toccata (Gigout) Rumba sur les Grands Jeux (Cholley) 12 May Andrew Bryden (Ripon Cathedral) Toccata in F (BWV 540) (Bach, J.S.)
