Betty Maly Last Meeting Benight Bob Moll Richard birthday anniversary News / Announcements New Member Jill Leach isn’t exactly new to Rotary. She is a pastpresident of her former Club in Tustin, CA, and a long time sojourner here. She was co-chair with Kathy Simpson of our Coats for Kids project last year, and will be our RYLA chair next year. She said the few weeks she spent between clubs felt like she’d left the baby back at the last gas station. Food Bank Challenge The Food Bank Challenge got under way a couple of weeks late (someone “forgot” to tell us), so President Jim and Vice President Jack got us off to a fast start, raising $762 (+ $20 Canadian) in just a few minutes. Rotarians at Work Day, a project proposed at the “Blur the Lines” meeting of the 3 Green Valley Clubs, will happen April 28. More details to come. Book Drive Let’s not forget our “Food for Thought” book drive. We are trying to collect 2000 books for the kids who visit the Green Valley Community Food Bank, and we still have quite a way to go. RYLA Kids Dominique McKenna (right), a sophomore at Walden Grove HS, and Aisa Bon (below), a sophomore at Sahuarita HS, were our RYLA students this year. Though both girls were already class leaders, they both said the RYLA experience increased their self confidence and brought them out of their shells. Both want to go back next year as counselors. Dick Roberts says their reaction is typical, that students go up to RYLA quiet and a little scared but they come back very noisy. The Board has agreed to send them and 2 others to RYLA next year.
