Description of the lab: IRISA (Institut de Recherche en Informatique et Systèmes Aléatoires - UMR CNRS 6074),
created in 1975, is a joint research unit, including CNRS, INRIA, University of Rennes 1, University of SouthBrittany, ENS Rennes, Telecom-Bretagne, and INSA-Rennes. Supelec is a partner of this research unit. IRISA
groups around 750 people, and conducts research in computer science, applied mathematics, and signal and
image processing. Its scientific activity is organized in 7 thematic departments.
Specific skills required:
•
Research:
This Assistant Professor position in computer science aims at sustaining the high-potential scientific themes of
formal approaches for themselves or software applications. These approaches concern compilation, graphs,
language theory or verification. The recruitment mainly concerns a scientific integration in the following teams
belonging to the three IRISA’s departments “Language and Software Engineering”, “Media and Interaction” and
“Data and Knowledge Management”:
•
•
•
•
•
•
Celtique Team: Software certification using semantic analysis, http://www.irisa.fr/celtique/
Intuidoc Team: Intuitive user interaction for documents, http://www.irisa.fr/intuidoc
Lis Team: Logical information systems, http://www.irisa.fr/lis
Sumo Team: Supervision of large modular and distributed systems, http://www.inria.fr/equipes/sumo
TexMex Team: Efficient exploitation of multimedia documents: Exploration, indexing, navigation, and
access to very large databases,, http://www.irisa.fr/texmex
Triskell/Diverse Team: Software diversity for modeling and testing, http://www.irisa.fr/triskell
The proposed research project must clearly present the scientific integration in an IRISA research team.
Consequently, we strongly recommend to directly contact the leader of the team.
This assistant professor position in computer science also aims at reinforcing the international dimension of the
laboratory and the industrial relationships. Strong scientific international relationships or international mobility or
industrial valorisation practice would be appreciated.

Teaching:
The enrolled assistant-professor recruited will integrate the computer science department. The lessons will be in
the scope of theoretical computer science (verification, grammars and languages, compilation, graph theory,
language theory, etc.). An involvement in the functional languages teaching would be appreciated.
The candidate must be graduated in computer science.
Most teachers involved in the computer science department work also in all other departments of INSA. The
enrolled assistant-professor will be part of this process.
