For the occasion, beer lovers will have the chance to discover 10 handcraft breweries, nine never seen before at the festival! Worthy of mention, the presence of Jim Robertson, Brewmaster of Wells and Young’s and Alex Barlow, Brewmaster, International Beer Judge, Beerologist and Author of the All Beer Guide, winner of four international awards. Gastronomy to the Rendezvous! To go with their beer tastings, visitors will be able to treat themselves in one of the 11 food stands. In addition to the famous European style sausage sandwiches or the pork smoked meat sandwiches, visitors will find giant grilled shrimps, deer appetizers and lobster sandwiches without forgetting the more exotic dishes like turtle and alligator soups, kangaroo and boar burgers as well as buffalo on a stick! For the sweet tooth, 40 different types of fudge, sucre à la crème and nougat. The Fédération des Producteurs de Lait du Québec will also take part with their Fromages d'ici Boutique, where different Master Cheese Makers will offer visitors a professional cheese tasting experience. For the great pleasure of epicures, the Flaveurs Bières et Caprices evening is back on Saturday, June 11 at the Hilton Hotel Bonaventure (Le Portage Hall and Terrace). This themed evening will send you an extraordinary and unforgettable flavor‐filled journey: 9 countries, 18 beers, 9 gourmet appetizers and 1 cider to go with the chocolate and cheese, all this in only one evening! A perfect occasion to live a divine culinary experience concocted by beer and food pairing experts. The gourmet appetizers will be prepared in collaboration by Chef Louis Rodaros from the Montreal Hilton Bonaventure and Alsatian Chef Daniel Zenner. Listed on the menu, beers originating from Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, the United States and the 18th edition’s special feature: the United Kingdom. An Improved Program (See Program Sheet for details) Six themed areas have been created to enliven the Biertrotters’ experience. The Petits Pubs, the stands where you can find beers originating from outside Quebec, have been renamed and revamped. The European Petit Pub Bistro will offer beers originating from: Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and, of course, the featured country of the 18th edition: the United Kingdom! Biertrotters will also have the opportunity to meet with our beer import specialist Nancy Rossi. Acting as an import agent, the Mondial de la bière can now sell its beers throughout the year to individuals as well as license owners. The Oktoberfest Petit Pub (name inspired by the Beer Gardens with their picnic tables and entertainment area) will offer beers from Brazil, Canada and the United States. The music program is back at the Silent Dance Esplanade and Stage! Silent dance? Absolutely! A dance floor where only dancers, wearing headphones, will be able to hear the music… Djs, bands and solo artists come together to create a convivial musical ambiance. Don’t miss Dj Mohtorious on Wednesday at 3:30 pm! At the Biertrotters’ Beach, visitors will be able to take a stroll, relax on a long chair, get a massage or participate in our limbo and Disc Golf (mini‐Frisbee thrown in a basket). The popular beer and cheese pairing workshops as well as the Round Table on cooking with beer and all the other workshops will take place at the Cheese Dome. The VIP section is now called the Flaveurs Bières et Caprices Mezzanine and from where you will have a breathtaking view of the site! Contest Renamed in honor of a great pioneer, the Greg Noonan MBeer Contest (6th edition) unites an international jury of 12 experts summoned to award 1 platinum medal and 10 gold medals to brewers that will have distinguished themselves from the others with their beer(s). Biertrotters will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite beer by voting in the Consumer Beer Contest. Medals will be awarded to winning brewers on stage, on Sunday, June 12th at 6 pm. All Biertrotters are invited to participate in the contest Strasbourg for 2 and get a chance to win a trip for two to the Mondial de la bière of Strasbourg (France) taking place from October 21 to 24, 2011. Ballots will be available on the festival’s site. An Eco‐Responsible Gesture The Mondial de la bière encourages its visitors to act eco‐responsibly by purchasing the festival’s souvenir glass. This simple gesture will help reduce the amount of plastic cups used as well as procure a pleasurable tasting experience. For a second year, the Mondial offers a reusable bag to those who will have purchased the official glass. 2 Summary Date: Schedule: Located: Transport: Admission: Tasting: Cost: Quantity: Glass: WARNING: June 8 to 12, 2011 Wednesday to Saturday, from 11 am to 10 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 8 pm Place Bonaventure (and Hilton Bonaventure) 800, de la Gauchetière Street West, Montreal (Quebec) Canada Bonaventure Subway Station Free Tasting coupon at $1 each From 1 to 5 coupons (per tasting for the majority of beers) 3 to 4 ounces per tasting The souvenir glass can hold from one to two 4‐ounce tastings Only the Mondial de la bière glass (from 1994 to 2011) and 5 ounce and under plastic cups will be tolerated for the service of beer.
