AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE ARGENTINE REPUBLIC
AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE LEBANESE REPUBLIC ON
COOPERATION IN THE AREA OF TOURISM
The Government of the Argentine Republic and the Government of the Lebanese Republic,
hereinafter referred to as “the Parties”,
Desiring to strengthen the ties of friendship between them and to enhance mutual knowledge
of their historical and cultural heritage,
Realizing that tourism is an important way of strengthening mutual understanding and of
expressing goodwill and friendly relations between peoples,
Pursuant to the recommendations of the World Tourism Organization and to their respective
national legislations,
Agree on the following:
Article 1
In accordance with this Agreement and with their respective national legislations, the Parties
shall develop cooperation in the area of tourism on the basis of their mutual interests and of equal
rights.
Article 2
The Parties shall develop cooperation between Argentine and Lebanese tourism associations,
organizations, enterprises and agencies.
The Parties shall encourage investment of capital by individuals and legal entities in the sector
of tourism.
Article 3
The Parties shall encourage organized group travel and individual tourism and promote tourist
exchanges of specialized groups for the purpose of attending sporting events, musical and
theatrical festivals and exhibitions, symposia and congresses organized in the area of tourism.
Article 4
The Parties shall encourage the exchange of statistics and data in the area of tourism, in
particular concerning:
a) the laws and regulations on tourism activities and the protection and preservation of
natural and cultural resources constituting tourist attractions,
b) tourist resorts in each of the two countries,
c) expertise in the area of hotel management and other types of tourist accommodation,

d) reference, information and publicity material.
Article 5
The Parties shall endeavour, to the best of their ability, to provide training to professional staff
in the area of tourism, to encourage the exchange of journalists and tourism and travel experts and
to promote multi-purpose contacts and joint activities between Argentine and Lebanese tourism
organizations.
Article 6
The Parties shall coordinate cooperation between their national tourism authorities, in the
context of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and other international tourism organizations.
Article 7
The Parties shall establish a joint working group on tourism to coordinate the implementation
of this Agreement, provide follow-up and formulate proposals and programmes to develop
bilateral cooperation. Representatives of the national tourism authorities of each country shall
participate in this joint working group.
The joint working group shall meet at least once every two years. Additional meetings may be
convened when deemed necessary by the two chairs of the national delegations.
Article 8
Each Party may request amendments to this Agreement in writing, to be agreed between the
Parties.
Article 9
This Agreement shall enter into force on the date of receipt of the last notification in which
one of the Parties informs the other of the completion of the domestic legal procedures necessary
for its entry into force.
Article 10
This Agreement shall be valid for a period of five years and shall be automatically renewed
for the same period, unless one of the Parties expresses in writing its desire to terminate it, six
months prior to its expiration.
Termination of this Agreement shall not affect the implementation of programmes and
projects that have not been completed, unless the Parties decide otherwise.

DONE in Buenos Aires, on 29 October 2011, in two copies in Spanish, Arabic and French, all
texts being equally authentic. In the event of differences regarding the interpretation of this
agreement, the French text shall prevail.
