Castellan Installation
You may find it easy to print off these instructions while installing Castellan.
1. Download the Castellan Installation and Castellan Files
Download the Castellan Installation file:
http://www.tdexpress.co.nz/castellan_upgrades/Home/CastellanInstall.zip
And the Castellan Files:
http://www.tdexpress.co.nz/castellan_upgrades/Home/Castellanfiles.zip
Try save them to the desktop or an easily accessible place for the next steps.
2. Extract the CastellanInstall.zip
If the CastellanInstall does not look something similar to this:
Then you might need to install WinRar to extract the files. WinRar can be found:
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm please install it before continuing.
Right-click CastellanInstall and select “Extract All…” or “Extract Files…” and select the Desktop
(depending on the program you use to unzip Castellan you may need to select Browse then select
the desktop) then press OK.
This should also be done for the CastellanFiles.
3. Install Castellan
Go to the desktop and open CastellanInstall.
Double click setup.
Click OK.
Click the Change Directory button and install it in your primary drive (Usually C:\) under a new folder
(So if C:\ is your primary drive then under path it will have “C:\Castellan\”).

Click Yes and then click the install button:
Make sure Castellan is selected in the Existing Groups and click Continue.
If anything pops up select Yes or Ignore. There may be a few pop ups but keep selecting Ignore (this
is because Castellan works on different versions of Windows and each different version of Windows
may not have the same .dll files).
When the install is finished it should display that the install was completed successfully.
4. Copying Castellan Files
If you haven’t already from step 2 extracted the Castellanfiles, you should do that now the
Castellanfiles (downloaded from step 1, instructions on how to extract are in step 2 – just make sure
to extract Castellanfiles not CastellanInstall).
Go to the desktop and open Castellanfiles.
Open the Castellan folder.
Select everything in this folder (CLog, Configuration, Data – Active, Data – Backups, EXE, Images, and
Venues) right click one of the folders and select copy.
Go to where Castellan was installed (it will be similar to C:\Castellan\) Right click in there and select
paste.
5. Shortcuts and configuration file
Open the EXE folder (it will be similar to C:\Castellan\EXE\) and right click Castellan and select ‘Send
To…’ > ‘Desktop (create shortcut)’
Go back to the Castellan folder and open the Configuration folder (it will be similar to
C:\Castellan\Configuration) then right click the CASTELLAN file and select ‘Open With’ and select
Notepad then OK.
Look at another computer you have already set up on site or call HQ to find out what you need to
put here on 03 479 0774.

6. Install required fonts
Go back to the Castellanfiles folder on the desktop.
If you have Windows 7 right click 3OF9_NEW font file and click install. Do this for ADVI25D_ and
hatten.
If you have Windows XP select all three fonts (3OF9_NEW, ADVI25D_ and hatten), right click one of
them and select copy and go to C:\Windows\Fonts and right click and select paste.
7. Setting up the Date time
Open the Control Panel
In Windows 7 open ‘Clock, Language and Region’ and then ‘Region and Language’ and then select
‘Additional settings…’ Select the Time tab and where it has AM symbol select “AM” and where it has
the PM symbol select “PM” (without quotes). Click Apply then OK.
In Windows XP open Regional and Language Options and then click Customize. Select the Time tab
and where it has the AM symbol select “AM” and where it has the PM symbol select “PM” (without
quotes). Click Apply then OK.

Now Castellan is installed and ready to use. Read on to install a BOCA printer.

Boca Printer Installation
Plug in the boca printer and load in the ticket stock.

Go to printers and devices from the start menu
Click add a printer
Select local printer attached to this computer
Select the highest numbered USB port from the port drop down list
Click next
Select HP manufacturer
Under printers select Hp laserjet IIP
 If you can’t find the driver click windows update
8. Click next twice
9. Call the printer BOCA1 and click next until finished
10. If a test pages doesn’t print see changing usb virtual ports (below)

Select Printer Properties
Click print test page and close
Select the ports tab
Tick the next available usb## port
Click apply
If a test page came out of the printer all done if not go back to 5

Install PDF printer for castellan management reports
Install Cute PDF printer and install it setting the default paper layout to A4.
The installation is located within the castellan files directory. (CuteWriter)
Setting printer configuration
Castellan uses a configuration file to select which printer to use for a task.
The file is located here: in your main castellan\configuration\printer.cfg
The break out is:
Ticketprinter|Ticketprinter|Ticketprinter|reportprinter|envelope printer|label printer|
By default this is set to:
BOCA1|BOCA1|BOCA1|CutePDF Writer| | |
Change DPI settings (Optional)
This zooms in the screen permanently and brings all of castellans texts into line. This is
recommended if this is a selling computer.
Windows 7:




Right click on the desktop select personalize
Click display
Select medium – 125% and click apply
Log off and on
Windows XP:



Right click on the desktop select properties
Select the settings tab
Click advanced

Select large size (120dpi) from the dpi settings drop down list
Click Apply and OK
Log off and on
