Dear colleagues and friends,
On behalf of the board of the German Society for Immunology
(DGfI) we are pleased to invite you to participate at the 46th Annual
Meeting to be held from September 27–30, 2016, in the Free and
Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Our beautiful city with its remarkable harbour is not only known as Germany’s door to the world
and as a popular tourist destination, but also as centre of science
with nine public universities, several academies and a number of
non-university research institutes located here.
Immunology in Hamburg is represented mainly at four institutions,
namely at the University Hospital Eppendorf (UKE), the BernhardNocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNI), the Heinrich-Pette
Institute for Experimental Virology, the “Deutsches Elektronen
Synchroton” (DESY) and nearby the research centre Borstel. Scientists from the above mentioned institutions are working together
in the collaborative research centers (SFB841) “Liver inflammation:
infection, immune regulation and consequences”, the SFB1192
“Immune-mediated glomerular diseases” and place an emphasis
on Neuroimmunology and Fetomaternal Immunology as well. In
addition, the Hamburg region is one of seven partner sites of the
German Center for Infection Research (DZIF). Accordingly, infection
immunology and autoimmunity are the two major immunological
research topics in Hamburg.
The 46 DGfI Annual Meeting will take place at the Congress Center
Hamburg which is located in the center of the city of Hamburg,
surrounded by beautiful parks and easily accessible by trains and
public transportation. The organizing committee strives to compile
an interesting program containing current topics of basic and
translational immunological research in plenary sessions, main
symposia and workshops to distract you from the temptations of
the city. We invite you cordially to submit your abstracts in spring
2016 and are looking forward to welcome you all in Hamburg.
