Our beautiful city with its remarkable harbour is not only known as Germany’s door to the world and as a popular tourist destination, but also as centre of science with nine public universities, several academies and a number of non-university research institutes located here. Immunology in Hamburg is represented mainly at four institutions, namely at the University Hospital Eppendorf (UKE), the BernhardNocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNI), the Heinrich-Pette Institute for Experimental Virology, the “Deutsches Elektronen Synchroton” (DESY) and nearby the research centre Borstel. Scientists from the above mentioned institutions are working together in the collaborative research centers (SFB841) “Liver inflammation: infection, immune regulation and consequences”, the SFB1192 “Immune-mediated glomerular diseases” and place an emphasis on Neuroimmunology and Fetomaternal Immunology as well. In addition, the Hamburg region is one of seven partner sites of the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF). Accordingly, infection immunology and autoimmunity are the two major immunological research topics in Hamburg. The 46 DGfI Annual Meeting will take place at the Congress Center Hamburg which is located in the center of the city of Hamburg, surrounded by beautiful parks and easily accessible by trains and public transportation. The organizing committee strives to compile an interesting program containing current topics of basic and translational immunological research in plenary sessions, main symposia and workshops to distract you from the temptations of the city. We invite you cordially to submit your abstracts in spring 2016 and are looking forward to welcome you all in Hamburg. th 09:00–14:00 Satellite Symposium AKNEI: Lifestyle matters even in an Animal’s Cage – On the Relevance of Neuroendocrine: Immune Interactions for Animal Models 10:00–14:00 Satellite Symposium AKPI: understanding the Human Immune System – What do we learn from Immunodeficiency Diseases? 11:00–14:00 Satellite Symposium AKNK: Current Developments in Natural Killer Cell Biology Preliminary Program Overview 10:00–14:00 Satellite Symposium AK Tumorimmunologie CD4+ T Cell Subsets Wednesday, 28 September 2016 Infection Immunology I: Human System 10:30–12:00 B Cell ActiLate Breaking vation and Abstracts Maturation in Germinal Centers Nanostring Technologies 12:00–13:00 Lunch Lunch Symposium 2 Symposium 3 B Cells 13:00–14:30 T Cells 08:30–10:00 Autoimmunity Natural Killer (NK) and Innate Lymphoid Cells (ILC) Bernhard Fleischer Conference Chair and Gisa Tiegs Conference Chair 15:00–15:45 Welcome to Hamburg 15:45–17:30 Young Immunologists 18:00–19:45 President‘s Symposium with DGFI Awards CD8+ T Cell Infection ImDifferentiation munology II: and Responses Model Systems Poster Session 2 General Assembly of the DGfI 19:45–22:00 Welcome Reception and Meet the Exhibitors 14:30–16:00 16:00–17:30 B Cell Devel- Clinical opment and Immunology Homeostasis 17:30–19:00 Thursday, 29 September 2016 10:30–12:00 Mast Cells and Infection Granulocytes Immunology III: Sensing of and Response to Pathogens 12:00–13:00 Lunch Lunch Lunch Symposium 4 Symposium 5 Symposium 6 Immune Cell Memory Tumor Micromilieu and Immune Escape Poster Session 3 Fetomaternal Immunity Lymphocyte NeuroSignal Immune Transduction Interactions in Health and Disease Dendritic Cells and Macrophages Lunch Symposium 7 Poster Session 4 T- Cell Mediated Immunopathology Social Evening The industrial exhibition is open from 10:00-19:00.
