Katharine Mehrling studied Acting and Musical Theatre at the London Studio Centre and the Lee
Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York. She debuted in London's West-End at the Old Vic Theatre in
the revival production of HAIR, and has since performed roles like Sugar Kane in SOME LIKE IT
HOT, Polly in THE THREE PENNY OPERA, Eponine in LES MISERABLES, Lucy in JEKYLL'N' HYDE,
Evita Peron in EVITA, Fanny Brice in FUNNY GIRL, and Katharina/Lilli Vanessi in KISS ME KATE.
Since 2000, Katharine lives in Berlin. Here, she played the title roles in IRMA LA DOUCE and PIAF,
she was Emma in the one-woman-Musical BLEIB NOCH BIS ZUM SONNTAG and played Sally
Bowles in CABARET more than 250 times at the Bar Jeder Vernunft. At the Berlin Schlosspark
Theater, Katharine starred as Little Becky Two-Shoes in URINETOWN, as Ottilie von Henkeshofen in
MAYTIME, as Lilian in THREE GOOD FRIENDS, and as Amnesia in NUNSENSE. In 2010, Katharine
Mehrling was honored with the Berlin Theater Award for her act in the musical comedy EWIG JUNG
at the Renaissance Theater, in which she impersonated her 95-year-old self. In the same year she
played Tippi Hedren in the musical THE BIRDS OF ALFRED HITCHCOCK, written for her by William
Ward Murta. Katharine's first musical solo project and one-woman show, HOMMAGES, is dedicated
to the genre of French chanson. For this project, she moved to Paris to retrace the steps of Edith
Piaf. Her second project, BONSOIR KATHARINE, was presented, amongst others, at the Bar Jeder
Vernunft in Berlin. For her album AM RANDE DER NACHT "On The Verge of Night"), the first album
for which she wrote her own songs, Katharine worked together with jazz legend Rolf Kühn. The
album was produced at the Berlin Hansa Studios and launched at the Berlin TIPI in 2011. The same
year, Hessian TV presented "A Night with Katharine Mehrling and Big Band". In 2012, she
played the stage together with her band, dancers, international artists and special guest Rolf Kühn in
her personality show AM RANDE DER NACHT, for which she received the Lale Andersen
sponsorship award in Bremerhaven. Katharine Mehrling is an awardee of the Bundeswettbewerb
Gesang (German Federal Singing Competition, 2nd place in 1995) and of the prize awarded by the
Deutscher Bühnenverein (German Stage Association, also in 1995). As president of the Deutscher
Bühnenverein's grand jury of 2013, Katharine moderated the awards ceremony in the
Friedrichstadtpalast, Berlin. With her newly launched live album and show PIAF AU BAR at the Bar
Jeder Vernunft (Berlin), Katharine Mehrling is once again expressing her love for Edith Piaf and France.
In late 2014, Katharine played Lona Farell in the Berlin premiere of Emmeric Kálmán's operette
ARIZONA LADY at the Komische Oper Berlin. As of recent, Katharine received the "Golden Curtain"
for the second time, honoring her as the most popular stage actress in 2012/13 for her
impersonations of Judy Garland in END OF THE RAINBOW at the Berlin Schlosspark Theater and of
Daisy Darlington in the musical comedy BALL IM SAVOY at the Komische Oper Berlin. Katharine
appears as a singer in Bryan Singer's movie VALKYRIE, and she contributed to the soundtrack. In
the German TV production DAS TRAUMSCHIFF - MAURITIUS, Katharine played the role of Jenny
Franzen.
