Page 1/2 Tactile Warning Strip ALUMINIUM DESTECTABLE WARNING SURFACE OUTDOOR INDOOR Description The purpose of Detectable Warning Surfaces (DWS) is to alert the blind and visually impaired to dangers and allow them to move safely through areas with obstacles. Their pedotactile textured material, which can be felt through shoes and resonates when walked on, makes them easy to identify. Applications: Pedestrian crossings Outdoor flights of stairs Law texts French govt. order of 1st August, 2006 – article 7.1 "At the top of a staircase, at a distance of 0.50 metres from the first step, a floor covering must provide detectable warning though visual and tactile contrast." Characteristics Material: Aluminium 5754 Plate thickness: 2mm Stud height: the domed studs project 5mm above the tread plate Colour: neutral Dimensional stability: these products are dimensionally stable in their free state, insensitive to temperature variations. Installation: The drilled aluminium DWS is held in place by cruciform or torx headed screws. The way can be reopened as soon as installation is complete. Storage: The DWS units must be stored flat in their original packaging.
