Write a short paragraph in English (approximately two or three sentences per bullet point
below) about the do’s and don’ts of behaviour in a German business environment on the
following points:
• making and keeping appointments
• guidelines for business dress
• how to address others in a business context
Write about 80 words in total.

Write a short paragraph in English (about 30 words) about restaurant etiquette in Germany,
with particular reference to seating arrangements and silverware etiquette.

Die BASF SE1 (ehemals „Badische Anilin- & Soda-Fabrik“) ist der weltweit
größte Chemiekonzern. Insgesamt sind etwa 112.000 Mitarbeiter in
mehr als 80 Ländern bei der BASF beschäftigt. Die BASF betreibt über
390 Produktionsstandorte weltweit und ihr Hauptsitz befindet sich in
Ludwigshafen am Rhein. BASF ist in den Industriebereichen
Chemikalien, Kunstoffe, Veredelungsprodukte2, Pflanzenschutz und
Ernährung, sowie Öl und Gas tätig.

2015 hatte das Unternehmen einen Umsatz von 70,4 Mrd. EUR. Die
Aktie des Unternehmens ist im DAX an der Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse
gelistet und wird3 ebenfalls an den Börsen in London und Zürich
gehandelt.

Am 6. April 1865 gründete Friedrich Engelhorn in Mannheim-Jungbusch
die Badische Anilin- und Sodafabrik als Aktiengesellschaft. Eine Woche
nach der Gründung zog die Fabrik auf die andere Rheinseite nach
Ludwigshafen.

Am Anfang produzierte das Unternehmen Teerfarbstoffe und deren
Vorprodukte. Es begann auch mit der Herstellung von Textilfarbstoffen.
Das Unternehmen erreichte innerhalb weniger Jahre eine führende
Position auf dem weltweiten Markt für Färbemittel.

In den 1880er Jahren gründete das Unternehmen Niederlassungen in
Frankreich, Russland und den USA. 1900 präsentierte sich die Badische

Anilin und Soda Fabrik Aktiengesellschaft auf der Weltausstellung in
Paris als größte chemische Fabrik der Welt. Damals waren im Werk in
Ludwigshafen 148 Chemiker, 75 Ingenieure, 305 kaufmännische Beamte
sowie 6.207 Arbeiter beschäftigt.

Im Ersten Weltkrieg wurde die BASF in die Rüstungswirtschaft integriert.
Das Unternehmen produzierte Ausgangsstoffe4 für die Sprengstoff- und
Schießpulverproduktion.

als 160 Tochtergesellschaften.
