FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
German State of Niedersachsen bolsters business center in Atlanta, Georgia
Official representative for the German state of Niedersachsen in the United States will help
companies open their doors, creating jobs and economic investment in the U.S.
######
Atlanta, Georgia – February 9, 2012 – In 2005, the German state of Niedersachsen opened a
business center in the United States to help small to medium-sized companies from
Niedersachsen successfully open businesses in the U.S. Foreign companies opening their doors
in the states lends to economic investment and job creation in our nation. Over the next few
years, the state will lend increased support to the business center, creating more opportunities for
Niedersachsen companies to enter the U.S. market.
As of January 1, 2012, Silke Miehlke, Director of Consulting Services for the German American
Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S., Inc. (GACC South) has been named as the Official
Representative for the state of Niedersachsen in the U.S. As part of her duties, she is often the
first point of contact for all companies from Niedersachsen either already in the U.S, or looking to
establish business here. She will also be accompanying delegations from the state, helping to
schedule meetings with politicians requested by companies from Niedersachsen, and finding
associations and trade shows relevant to the state’s business focuses such as renewable
energies or automotive.
In addition, the state is lending additional financial support to established business representation
and market entry services offered by the GACC South for companies coming to the U.S. from
Niedersachsen. The aid is offered to small and medium-sized companies, with the requirement
that they must employ less than 250 people and have a profit of less than fifty-million euro per
year.
We are excited to lend continued support to Niedersachsen companies in the U.S. For more
