E.J. (Ed) Schaefer and T.W. (Wanye) Kahoe founded Franklin
Electric Co. in Bluffton, Indiana, USA in November 1944, naming
the company after America’s pioneer electrical engineer, Benjamin
Franklin. When World War II ended the following year, Franklin
Electric started production of a line of fractional horsepower
PRWRUV IRU GRPHVWLF ZDWHU SXPS DSSOLFDWLRQV ,Q WKH ¿UVW
functional submersible electric motor was introduced and over the
years developed into the broadest line of electric motors available
to the submersible pump market.
Franklin Electric Europa GmbH, the headquarters for the Europa
region, has been located in Wittlich, Germany, for over forty years.
The company was founded in 1964 and began production of a
limited line of submatic motors in a small workshop in Wallstrasse,
Wittlich. In 1967, the company moved into a newly built plant in
Rudolf-Diesel-Strasse.

Franklin Electric has captured new markets and applications through
innovative and high-tech products. We offer the pump industry
encapsulated and rewindable motors in a range from 0,25kW to 400kW.
These products are used in household pumping systems, industrial and
community water supplies, geothermal wells, pressure boosting and other

Franklin Electric’s Innovation has made it possible to offer a full line of 4
inch motors for single and three-phase voltages and various frequencies.

Franklin Electric’s control and protection devices have been designed
exclusively to help extend the life of Franklin Electric motors. The
SubMonitorš is the leading state of the art innovation in motor and pump

in heat sensor equipped motors. This results in the SubMonitorš being
able to shut down a motor in the event of a variety of fault conditions
including high voltage, low voltage, overload, underload, false start,
current unbalance, overheating, phase loss, and phase reversal.
Franklin Electrics’s SubDrive and MonoDrive constant pressure controllers
use variable speed technology to continuously monitor water demand
and adjust the pump speed to supply the required water.
