InfoNet Newsletter 1/2013 www.infonet-ae.eu -- Unsubscribe InfoNet Newsletter Recent trends in adult education – introducing InfoNet Newsletter (InfoNet Editorial Board) This Newsletter is the new format of the former InfoLetter. Since December 2012 InfoNet correspondents began posting new articles on the InfoNet website. A majority of them describes recent trends in adult education in the country of the author. With this issue of InfoNet Newsletter we will like to draw your attention to the more than 20 articles that has recently been uploaded. 2013 is a year of truth for European lifelong learning (Aura Vuorenrinne) The long legislative process of forming a new Lifelong Learning Programme is expected to come to an end this year as the Erasmus for All proposal will be decided upon. The European Parliament is likely to endorse adult educators' views on the new Lifelong Learning Programme, but the Member States are still to be convinced. Portuguese government New Opportunity Centres throughout the country (Carlos Ribeiro) The order arrived between Christmas and New Year's Day. A tersely-worded notice addressed to all the New Opportunity Centres, both private and public, confirmed the plans concerning the inevitable closing of the centres. This government decision leaves thousands of adults and professionals in this area adrift and without future prospects. Slovenian master plan focuses on non-vocational learning (Peter Beltram) Employability or general knowledge? Private or public? These are some of the discussions that preceded the second Slovenian Master Plan on adult education. Research on digital learning for participants with learning disabilities (Maurice de Greef) Digital learning seems to positively influence the learning results of all students. This is shown by research results concerning digital learning among regular students and students with learning disabilities of secondary education.
