Packaging Solutions
Complete Plug&Pack System for
the Packaging Industry
Strubl’s solution provides for high flexibility environmental
friendliness with reduced costs
Whether they are DIY or office items, cosmetic products, sanitation or household items, millions of products
await processing and packaging every day. While blister packaging was often used in the past, the packaging industry relies more and more on complete packaging systems like the Plug&Pack System of Wendelstein-based
Strubl KG. This third-generation, family owned business produces a broad spectrum of foils and foil-related
products made from PE or PP. Strubl KG has developed special and complete Plug&Pack systems above all for
packaging challenges characterized by many different variations on small and mid-sized production runs.
T
he Dresselhaus company, for example,
chose one of these solutions. Amongst other things,
Dresselhaus produces screws
and fasteners that are used in
agricultural machinery, the
capital goods industry, steel
construction, and the manufacture of automobiles and
commercial vehicles. Because
of the new appearance and
a higher level of environmental friendliness, Dresselhaus
sought an alternative to blister
packaging – and found that
alternative in Strubl’s Plug&
Pack system. The advantages:
Pre-made bags can be printed
online with variable article
date using the system’s quickchange magazine. This eliminates the need for additional
processing steps in the labeling process.
“The system is flexible,
simple to operate, virtually
maintenance free - and environmentally friendly.”

“In addition to the environmentally friendly mono-material packaging, fast format
changes, which really only
mean “bag changes”, cost savings, precision and flexibility
are additional advantages of
our Plug&Pack solution,” explains Dr. Christoph Strubl.
“Our customers get their bags
and machinery from a single
source – but in contrast to
other systems are in principle
not dependent on a single supplier.” And because of their

modular design – Strubl uses
high-quality brand name components – individual component subassemblies can also be
exchanged quickly and without problems.

Like Dresselhaus, Sanit, a
manufacturer of sanitation
products, and VBB Verpackungs GmbH, a company that
manually fills and processes
bags for Electrolux on a European-wide basis, both use a
technology known as thermal
transfer printing. This technology can produce a relatively large (up to 128 x 300 mm)
and high-quality print image.
“This allows our customers to

• In the third step, the bag is
opened with air and filled
manually, using commercial
conveying systems, or by using manual and automated
machinery simultaneously.
• Bags are sealed using cutand-seal technology. A
multi-chamber sealing system makes it possible to also produce multi-packs. After filling, the bags are
checked using a weighing
system.
Functionline bags are suited
above all for functional catering and service packs, while
Zipline bags are resealable
bags with a pressure lock.

Despite the economic crisis,
an increased demand for
complete Plug&Pack solutions was evident at all German and European packaging
trade fairs. In sectors like

depend on packaging to
promote their sales while

without having to first determine everything down to the

consists of four steps:
Depending on the intended
