Press Release after the first Race of Tourenwagen Classics:
Touring car racing with vehicles from the late 80's is becoming more and more popular. The vehicle
diversity of former racing series and their charismatic pilots who still are celebrated at racetracks like
stars have marked that time. Their fans - old or young - love that so-called golden era of motorsports
and establish a growing scene that reached a new level with the creation of the Tourenwagen Classics,
2015.
In June 2016 at Nürburgring first race of Tourenwagen Classics started with a stunning mix of original
racecars like Mercedes 190 Evolution, BMW DTM M3, Ford Sierra RS500 and some Super Touring Cars
like ex Briggs Opel Astra. About 40 Minutes drivers like Strycek, Hessel or Schneider fighted in real race
mode - as they did 30 years ago - for the first points of championship this year. The race was
broadcasted live out of the cockpits.
After a tough battle all cars finished and Armin Dellkamm was celebrated as the first winner of a
DTM/STW race in Germany. Prinz Leopold von Bayern, patron of Tourenwagen Classics, and the
founders Ralph Bahr, Alexander Ferreira & Marc Hessel are very happy and looking forward for the FIA
WEC event in July.
