Press release Building works start on Coeur Cologne at Breslauer Platz Allianz has commenced demolition work on the old buildings Cologne- January 16, 2015. Work has been in progress to gut the interiors of the buildings located at Breslauer Platz 2-4 since December 2014, and Allianz Real Estate is now commencing the external demolition of this housing complex near Cologne's Central Station. By 2017, the plot will be home to "Coeur Cologne". If all goes to plan, the first tenants will be able to move into this prestigious property, suitable for both business and commercial use, from the end of 2016. Work to commence on the new building in March "As far back as December, we informed the neighbors about the work we were going to carry out, and asked for their understanding regarding noise and dust," says Martin Schwaiger, the Asset Manager from Allianz Real Estate Germany GmbH who is responsible for the project. The current schedule shows that the site fence, covering parts of Altenbergerstraße and offering access to the building site, will be erected in the 4th calendar week of this year. Subsequently, the external demolition of the building can take place, starting from the internal courtyard and working outwards. A protective fence will also be erected around parts of Breslauer Platz at the start of February. The demolition work, carried out by Viersen's Prangenberg & Zaum, should be complete by the end of March. "Following this, the foundations will be laid and work will commence on the new building," explained Klaus Fay, Allianz Real Estate Germany GmbH's Manager responsible for engineering on the project. Allianz Real Estate Seidlstrasse 24-24 80335 Munich Coeur Cologne - modern offices with a view over the cathedral "Coeur Cologne", with around 14,000 square meters of rental space, will sit on a plot of 3,600 square meters in the Kunibert district of the city. Around 12,500 square meters will be let as office space, and more than 1,000 square meters are intended to be let as commercial and gastronomic premises. The building, designed by the Cologne-based architects msm meyer schmitz-morkramer rhein gmbh, is intended to regenerate Breslauer Platz, near Cologne's Central Station, and lead the way for this up-and-coming district as far as urban development is concerned. The building will not only boast a metal and glass facade with a lobby of up to 20 meters high, and a four-story window with views over the cathedral, but also an accessible rooftop garden, dubbed the 'sky garden'. Coeur Cologne will be let exclusively by JLL's Cologne office.
