Alles, was Du siehst, ist eine Illusion: Dieses Zimmer und diese Waende sind etwas anderes
als das Licht, welches sie in Deine Augen reflektieren. Das Licht, das Du siehst ist etwas
anderes als die elektrischen Impulse, die es in Deinem Nervensystem hervorruft. Die Nervenimpulse sind eine andere Sache als das Bild, welches Dein Verstand aufgrund Deiner
Erfahrung und Deiner Werte bildet. Das, was wir sehen, sieht aber taeuschend echt aus.
Nur in besonderen Momenten, zum Beispiel waehhrend eines Ohnmachtsanfalls oder im
Augenblick des Einschlafens, kann das von unserem Verstand aufgebaute Bild schwingen
oder schwanken. Die Kuenstler der Ausstellung “wavering view” verbindet das Interesse
fuer konstruierte Raeume und Ansichten.
Ismo Hyvaerinens Werke zeigen seine Erfahrung von Raeumlichkeit: sie geben Hinweise
auf Wegestrecken, Tore, Bruecken und vermeintliche Bewegungen im Bildraum, die diese
ermoeglichen. Das Traumhafte der Darstellung jedoch haelt uns davon ab, sie fuer Wirklichkeit zu halten.
Die Gemaelde Salla Laurinolles sind realistischer. Die Bilder nutzen den Hang der Wahrnehmung zu besonderer Sensibilitaet gegenueber Naturelementen und Menschengestalten. Das Zusammenwirken von Licht und malerischem Gestus erzeugen in den Bildern
etwas Traumhaftes. Sie scheinen eine Frage zu stellen, die wir auch sonst dann und
wannstellen sollten: “ist das wirklich?”
In den Werken von Anne Tamminen, die im Grenzbereich von Kunstgrafik, Fotografie und
Video arbeitet, ist der Ausgangspunkt die gebaute Naturumgebung von Zoos und die darin
lebenden Tiere. Sie ueberholt die von den Zoos fertig angebotenen Illusionen und schafft
Situationen, in denen sich sowohl die Tiere als auch die sie beobachtenden Menschen in
ein andersartiges Licht und einen andersartigen Raum befreien.
Der Ausgangspunkt der Skulpturen von Anssi Taulu ist oft das Verhaeltnis zwischen der
bebauten und der natuerlichen Umgebung. Der aus recycelten Plexischeiben angefertigte
“Stille Kontinent” bezieht sich auf die Plastikmuellscholle, die auf dem Pazifik herumtreibt.
Das Licht aus Leuchtreklameschildern und die von Werbeaesthetik bevorzugte Durchsichtigkeit verbinden das Werk mit unseren konsumeristischen Fantasien. Die im Namen des
Werkes erwaehnte Stille ist nicht gelassen, sondern ohrenbetaeubend.

My paintings sum up things that are important to me: to be on the
move heading for goals and dreams. I move like a boat towards the
horizon and, at the same time, like a bowl gathering things from
the world, as an observer. I feel to be a receiver, an intermediary
who necessarily needs thrills, experiences, life itself. In the process
things become more compact, features become sharper and create
a basis for new situations and interpretations. My paintings adapt
to my world, change as my experiences increase.

My paintings are mainly based on observations I make from my own surroundings, either in everyday-life or along some journeys. I see them as
studies from a dialogue between nature and human activity.

My work deals with visual obsevations, connections between
things in life, ethics and eternity. I use wide range of techniques:
installation, photography, moving image and site specific approaches, for example. Light and shadow, glass and reflections
are central building blocks of my work. Spaces, animals and surfaces that separate us are equally important elements. I aim to
gain deeper understanding of mysteries of life and explore the
possibilites of my abilities.

In sculpting I’m interested in creating dreamlike spaces.
I enjoy the working process; it is always a new and interesting journey.
In most of my works, I have studied the individual character of the
structure and its relationship to the surrounding space.
By examining our common history and by following the modern-day
phenomena in combination, the ideas are born that I would like to
form in three dimensions. I create spaces that give me new thoughts,
emotions, and when successful bring a feeling of solace. Sculpting is
my way of parsing experiences and measuring scale, which can be experienced in the form of an installation. I like use different recycled materials, cardboard,
plexiglas, wood and readymade objects. Important elements in work are the lights, shadows, sounds and acoustics.
