New Publications on Olympic Matters 2004
NEW PUBLICATIONS ON OLYMPIC MATTERS 2004 compiled by Karl Lennartz & Thomas Zawadzki Every four years the production of new book on Olympic issues show a marked upturn and this was particularly so this time. This year we noted very many new editions timed to tie in with the games returning to Greece. Many authors published material on sport in ancient times to tie in with the return to Olympia and also there was a wealth of material on 1896 and 1906 Olympic celebrations in Athens. In the following register it has been impossible to review every book but the publications are listed with bibliographical information and sometimes with some additional remarks. Because the editorial office is situated in Cologne, Germany more than 50 per cent of the mentioned works are of German origin and in German language. Any additional information or even reviews from our readers are very welcome. I. The Ancient Olympic Games GÜNTHER, Rosmarie: Olympia. Kult und Spiele in der Antike.
