It seems that Pontus Stålberg has had a little too
much time on his hands in the past few months.
With proactive support from his old chum Lars
Karlsson, he formed the project Turnbull A.C’s – a
truly massive affair, indeed! The debut album’s title
can be seen as programmatic: the tracks are angry
as hell and perfect for an alcohol-induced pogo party as well… all depending on how you wish to read
the word “pissed.” The evil brother of Spetsnaz is
definitely Old School EBM – yet a tad more straightforward and aggressive. Pontus and Lars may be
able to drink without having fun (“We Can Drink Without Having Fun”), but “Let’s Get Pissed” delivers
the fun factor in loads, its smashing tracks being an
altogether irresistible invitation to uninhibited body
movement- one that was gladly accepted by the
crowd attending the „Familientreffen“-festival in
Sandersleben, where the band took to the stage for
the first time. Audience and band had a smashing
time, so that you can bet that more gigs will follow,
soon! Pontus must have pent-up a whole lot of aggression, though, because these tunes are definitely
harder than usual… and he is not exactly renowned
for being the introverted type. The music was stripped to its bare essentials, as Turnbull A.C’s come
straight to the point with beats, bass and shouts in
eleven hard but catchy Old School tunes. Spetsnaz
fans will also most certainly not be disappointed, as
it always clearly shimmers through who is behind
the music. The ideal soundtrack for relieving your
aggression and for dance floor workouts. Turnbull
A.C’s: the Hardcore Hooligans strike again!
Pontus Stålberg war in den letzten Monaten offenbar nicht ausgelastet. Mit tatkräftiger Unterstützung seines Kumpels Lars Karlsson entstand
das Projekt Turnbull A.C’s, das es wahrlich in sich
hat! Der Titel des gerade erschienenen Debüts ist
in jedem Fall Programm: die Tracks sind wütend
wie Sau und eignen sich ideal für eine bierselige
Pogo-Party… je nachdem, wie man das „pissed“
im Albumname gerne übersetzen möchte. Der
böse Bruder von Spetsnaz bleibt unverkennbar
Old School EBM, aber geradliniger und etwas härter. Und auch wenn Pontus und Lars selbst gerne mal trinken, ohne dabei Spaß zu haben, und
dazu auch einen Text verfassen („We Can Drink
Without Having Fun“) - bei „Let’s Get Pissed“ ist
der Spaßfaktor vorprogrammiert, denn hier gibt es
so konsequent auf die Zwölf, dass man eigentlich
nur mitgehen kann. Wie das aussieht, konnte man
jüngst auf dem Familientreffen-Festival in Sandersleben verfolgen, wo der erste Gig des Duos
erfolgreich über die Bühne ging. Bald gibt es davon sicher mehr!
Pontus muss eine ganze Menge Wut in sich aufgestaut haben, denn die neuen Tracks sind doch
einen Tick aggressiver geraten, als man das bisher
von dem nicht gerade introvertierten Schweden
gewohnt war. Auf unnötigen Ballast wurde gleich
ganz verzichtet… Turnbull A.C’s gehen direkt
und ohne Umwege zur Sache: Beats, Bass und
Shouts… und es rappelt im Karton! Auch Spetsnaz-Fans kommen hier voll auf ihre Kosten, hört
man doch immer, wer hinter der Musik steckt. Die
Hardcore Hooligans schlagen wieder zu!
