Unsere Ausstellung vereint mit Hans Hofmann, Joan Mitchell
und Sam Francis drei wesentliche Vertreter des Abstrakten
Amerikanischen Expressionismus.
Hans Hofmann, einer der Gründungsväter des Abstrakten
Expressionismus, war als Lehrer und Theoretiker ein wichtiger Bezugspunkt für die jüngere Künstlergeneration. Wie für
Hofmann war auch für Joan Mitchell die Natur die wesentliche Inspirationsquelle, die sie in dynamisch, gestische
Kompositionen übersetzte und damit die lyrische Form des
Abstrakten Expressionismus entwickelte. Die Werke von Sam
Francis sind geprägt von gesättigter Farbigkeit und malerischer Spontanität. Sie zeichnen sich zudem durch
minimalistische, konzentrierte Kompositionen aus, die den
Betrachter zur Kontemplation einladen.
Nach Einzelausstellungen aller drei Künstler freuen wir uns,
die Werke nun in einer Ausstellung zu präsentieren.
Our exhibition brings together three major representatives
of Abstract American Expressionism: Hans Hofmann,
Joan Mitchell and Sam Francis.
Hans Hofmann was one of the founding fathers of
Abstract Expressionism. As a teacher and theoretician,
he was a benchmark for the younger generation of
artists. Nature was a significant inspiration for Hofmann,
as it was for Joan Mitchell, who translated it into dynamic gestural compositions and developed the lyrical
variation of Abstract Expressionism. The works of Sam
Francis are informed by saturated chromaticity and
painterly spontaneity. Another distinguishing mark is
their minimalist, concentrated composition, inviting the
observer to contemplation.
After solo exhibitions of all three artists, we are happy to
present their works together in one exhibition.
