Bericht des Präsidenten
Der Einsendetermin für
unser Nachrichten Blatt
fällt mit dem Anfang des
diesjährigen Oktoberfests zusammen, darum
kann ich noch keinen
Bericht darüber geben.
Ein ausführlicher Bericht folgt im nächsten
Blatt. Wir hoffen, dass
wieder alles gut verläuft und unsere Gäste
zufrieden gestellt werden. Das abgehaltene
Konzert von der Oktoberfest Inc. (Rock the
Tent) war gut besucht aber leider nicht
ausverkauft. Der Erlöss sollte Oktoberfest
Inc. finanziel aushelfen. Diese Verantaltung
in unserem Zelt bereitet viel extra Arbeit
und unsere Gruppen können erst in der letzten Woche wieder ihre Buden fertigstellen.
Wir bedanken uns für eure Geduld und
Verständnis.
Das Winzerfest unserer Chöre war gut
besucht mit einem Gastchor aus Oshawa
und einigen Chormitgliedern aus Stratford.
Meine Frau und ich möchten uns bei den
Chören für die Einladung zu diesem Fest
herzlich bedanken. Wie immer, wir hatten
Spass und vom vielen Tanzen für einige
Tage Muskelkater in den Beinen.
Sobald die Aufräumarbeit vom Oktoberfest
fertig ist und wir uns ausgeruht und erholt
haben, müssen wir uns schon auf die
Festlichkeiten der Weihnachtszeit vorbereiten.
Nun wünsche ich euch allen einen schönen,
farbenfrohen Herbst und verbleibe

The deadline to hand in this report for the
Bulletin is at the same time as the start of
this year’s Oktoberfest. Therefore, things are
a bit busy! My full report for the Oktoberfest
will be in the following Bulletin. We just
hope everything goes smoothly and without
major incidents.

It was well attended but not sold out. We
hope the proceeds from this event give them

SCHLICHTER’S
Winzerfest, staged by our choirs again on
September 17th turned into an evening of
fun and enjoyment for all. A visiting choir
from Oshawa and some members from the
Stratford choir enlightened the evening.
Please remember the yearly celebration of
the founding of the Concordia Club (Stiftungsfest) on November 5th. We are hoping
to fill the hall. Also, please support the
opening of the Mardi Gras season on
November 12th.
German Volkstrauertag is on Sunday November 13th. We will honour our fallen
Soldiers and all those who endured atrocities, during and after the wars, at Woodland
Cemetery followed by Coffee and Cake at
the Concordia Club. These ceremonies are
now organized by the Remembrance Society
and Arbeitsgemeinschaft. It is my hope to
see many of you at the event.

STIFTUNGSFEST
Am 5. November findet
das diesjährige Stiftungsfest der Mitglieder
des Klubs statt! Karten
für diese Veranstaltung
sind schon seit dem 14. September
erhältlich. Sehr wahrscheinlich sind Karten
nur noch in begrenztem Maße erhältlich,
denn wie Sie alle wissen, kostet der Eintritt
einschließlich Cocktail Stunde und einem
Festessen nur $ 18.- einschließlich Verkaufssteuern und Bedienungsgeld. Der
Schatzmeister des Klubs muss an diesem
Abend eine gute Stange Geld zuschießen,
denn die Eintrittsgelder decken bei weitem
nicht die Unkosten! An diesem Abend finden alle Ehrungen für verschiedene Jahre
der Mitgliedschaft, sowie die Ernennung
eines neuen Ehrenmitgliedes statt. Zur
Unterhaltung spielen das bekannte und
immer beliebte Edelweiss Trio.
SENIORENWEIHNACHTSFEIER
Am 5. Dezember feiert der Klubvorstand mit
unseren Mitgliedern, welche das Seniorenalter erreicht bzw. überschritten haben, die
alljährliche Concordia Club Seniorenweihnachtsfeier. Hierbei gibts selbstverständlich
ein serviertes Abendessen zusammen mit
einem kleinen und bunten Unterhaltungsprogramm. Karten zu dieser Veranstaltung
gibts im Klubbüro zu nur $ 18.- pro Person
einschließlich Verkaufssteuern und Bedienungsgeldern. So weit mir bekannt ist, wird
Santa auf einen kurzen Besuch vorbeikom-

SYLVESTER
Selbstverständlich planen wir wieder für
eine schöne und erfolgreiche Sylvesterparty
in der Schenke am 31. Dezember. Dieses
Jahr spielen wieder die beliebten TC Alpine
Echo’s und serviert wird wieder ein Festessen in 5 Gängen, ganz so, wie wir es in
den Vorjahren gemacht haben. Das Format
des Abends hat sich besonders bewährt und
findet bei unseren Gästen viel Zuspruch,
weshalb wir uns auch in diesem Jahr dafür
entschlossen haben. Reservierungs-Eintrittskarten in Form eines Essensgutscheines können zu je $ 60.- pro Person im
Klubbüro erworben werden. (Der Essensgutschein schließt weder Steuern noch
Bedienungsgeld mit ein. Mit dem Erwerb
der Karten sichern Sie sich einen Tisch und
dieser Gutschein wird dann am Ende des
Abends von Ihrer Gesamtrechnung in der
Schenke abgezogen. Sichern Sie sich Ihren
Platz schon heute!

STIFTUNGSFEST
Although most members get their tickets in
September, we may just have a few left! On
November 5th, the club celebrates another
successful year in it’s 138 years of history.
Just like it was done in prior years, there
will be a cocktail hour, followed by dinner.
After dinner the club will honor special
members for their continued years of loyal
membership. As far as I know, a new “honorary” member will also be announced that
evening followed by entertainment from the
well known and liked Edelweiss Trio. The
admission price is again heavily subsidized
by the club’s treasury!!
SENIORS CHRISTMAS PARTY
On December the 6th we have another reason to celebrate: the club invites all members who reached the age of 65 (and over) to
come and enjoy an evening out with dinner
and entertainment.
Tickets are available in the club office and
the price per senior member is only $ 18.00
inclusive applicable taxes and gratuities!!!!
Of course for that price we serve a special
Christmas Dinner as we’ve done in the past.
I am sure Santa will be there and of course
entertainment is arranged as well. Come on
out and be with your friends!!!
PREPAID GIFT CARD
If you need a gift Idea for Christmas or any
other occasion: The club is selling prepaid
gift cards in denominations of $ 10.- and up.
The card can be used to pay for food and
beverages in the Schenke, either once or
during multiple visits. It’s an ideal and lasting gift!! Of course we also offer gift certificates in smaller denominations - it’s your
choice, there is lot’s of flexibility.
NEW YEAR’S EVE
Tickets in form of vouchers will be available
shortly for our upcoming New Years Eve
Party in the Schenke this year again with
the popular “TC Alpine Echos”. Again as
we have done in previous years a special 5course dinner will be served to celebrate
this special occasion appropriately. Tickets
in form of a dinner voucher are $ 60.- each.
(This dinner voucher will be deducted from
your total restaurant bill, where the dinner
portion is $ 60.-, plus applicable taxes and
gratuities) As this event is held in the
Schenke and we sell out each and every
year, I would like to remind you that the
best seats reserve first, so don’t delay your
table reservation for too long!!

Frauengruppe
Das Oktoberfest ist vorüber und jeder der
gearbeitet hat, ist froh, daß alles wieder so
reibungslos gegangen ist.
Die Frauengruppe machte eine Tagestour
am 16. September zum Cirque du Soleil
nach Toronto. 8 Uhr ging die Fahrt mit dem
Bus zuerst zum Kensington Markt, anschließend zum Mittagessen in ein FischPub, wo die meisten Frauen ihren Appetit
mit Fisch und Chips stillten.
Anschließend besuchten wir das Spadina
Museum, eine historische Villa, welche jeder sehr interessant fand.
Die Nachmittags Performance vom Circus
war natürlich der Höhepunkt und jeder war
erstaunt und voller Aaah’s und Ooooh’s
über die Darbietungen der Akrobaten.
Leider war unsere Rückfahrt mit einer Stunde Verspätung, wegen einem Verkehrsstau
am Hwy 401.
Unsere Dartbude haben Bill Rowsell, Werner Metzger und Nick Osbelt aufgebaut, vielen, vielen Dank, denn es wird immer
schwieriger Helfer zu organisieren, die mit
Hammer, Schrauben und Drill die 2x4’s
wieder so zusammenbauen, daß es passt
und auch nach etwas aussieht.
Die Vorbereitungen für unseren Basar am
20. November sind im vollem Gange.
Einlass um 13 Uhr, Klubhalle, bei Kaffee
und Kuchen wird es wieder ein schöner
Nachmittag, natürlich gibt es auch selbstgebastelte Sachen und wie immer die leckeren
Weihnachtplätzchen zu kaufen.
Eine Woche später, am 27. November findet
die Kinderweihnachtsfeier für Kinder im
Alter von 1-10
Jahre in der Klubhalle statt. Beginn 13.30 Uhr.

Concordia Choir
In the month of September the choir once
again hosted another successful Winzerfest.
We would like to thank the Stratford and
Lorilee choirs for attending and joining the
festivities. It was especially nice to meet the
Lorilee choirs new conductor, after the sudden loss of their conductor last year. Special
thank you to our guest judges who had the
difficult task of selecting a Wine Queen.
This years honor went to none other, than
Sarah Almendinger! I wonder if it has anything to do with her dance partner? Perhaps
next year we should crown a king as well! A
big thank you to the decorating committee
and our MC of the evening Christine
Schwegel.
The month of October is busy with our
Oktoberfest booths and lots of practise,
practise, practise for our upcoming holiday
season. A big thank you to all the men that
helped set up and take down our game
booths, as well as the many choir members
that volunteered their time to run the
games. Oktoberfest would not be such a success if it was not for our volunteers! In the
month of October the male choir was invited to sing at the wedding of Rita Almendingers daughter Sarah. We wish to congratulate Sarah and Colin, and wish them many
years of happiness together. It was an honor
to be asked to sing for such a joyous occasion.
Concert Tour: We hope you enjoyed last
months write up of the Europe trip. Due to
space limitations last month, we wanted to
be certain to say a big thank you to our choir
president Helmut Kruschat for his assistance. You did a great job representing the

Concordia Club and Choirs on our tour!

Sad News - after such a wonderful Europe
trip, we have sad news. We wish to express
our condolences to Cecilia Piller and her
family, on the recent passing of George
Piller. The Piller family has been a wonderful supporter of the Concordia choirs over
the years, and we will miss George very
much.

Our President Karl Braun has achieved the
rarity, that his dance partner three years in a
row at the Winzerfest, would be crowned
the Wine Queen.
The Wine Queen for 2011 is Sarah Allmendinger. Congratulation for her Titel.
The Winzerfest was a evening with lots of
singing and everybody was in a good mood.

our regular garden meetings scheduled for
the second Wednesday of the month.

colourful foliage. Come to see what’s new
