Pottery-Market in Dießen am Ammersee, 25 – 28 May 2017
Dear Sir/Madam,
The 2016 Pottery Market was a highlight for many. Both visitors and exhibitors claimed it was one of
the most beautiful they had experienced. We had the best possible ‘market weather’ and a record
number of visitors: 60,000. Our guests frequently made particular mention of the choice of participants
and the quality of the ceramics on display at the Dießen Market. We would like to pass this
compliment on to you, as one of the exhibitors at the Dießen Pottery Market.
We would now like to draw your attention to the next Pottery Market in Dießen, which will take place
from 25 – 28 May 2017.
The market concept to date will also be adhered to again next year, as it has already demonstrated its
worth. The number of exhibitors has also proven ideal and will not be increased, whereby, as in
previous years, approximately 10% of the participants will be different as a result of the selection
procedure. The distribution of the stands will also be the same as in 2016, except for a few minor
alterations. There will again be an exhibition tent, an information tent, and the central exhibition
pavilion devoted to a particular theme. The Dießen Ceramics Prize donated by the Helmut Rohde
company and worth EUR 3,000 will be awarded again in the year 2017; the respective exhibition will
take place again in the Traidtcasten. In the framework of the Pottery-Market, ceramics themes will be
presented at different exhibition locations throughout Dießen. The Keramikweg (Ceramics Route)
through Dießen will also be organised again this year.
If you are interested in taking part in the 2017 Dießen Pottery Market we request that you let us know
as soon as possible by filling out and sending us the registration form to arrive at the latest by Friday,
7 October 2016.
We kindly ask you to respect this deadline, as applications arriving after that date will not be
taken into account.
We hope to be able to inform all exhibitors for the year 2017 of their final acceptance by the end of
November. The participants will again be selected by a jury, whose decisions are binding. Only works
by “commercial potters” will be accepted for the competition. This means the potter should

have completed vocational training in pottery and practice the profession, and that the potter should
be registered (in the Register of Craftsmen) or have a corresponding license to carry on the craft – i.e.
recognition as a free-lance artist.
Exhibitors who have already participated in Dießen are requested to send us some up-to-date good
quality photographs which we may use for the exhibition brochure and for press work, as the case
may be. We would like to keep the pictures you sent us with your 2016 application for our archive. If
you would like to have them back, however, we would be glad to return them at your request.
New applicants are requested to enter their professional career data, their C.V., information about
their working techniques, and several good photographs of their wares, plus a photograph of their
market stall. It is absolutely necessary that new applicants present a curriculum vitae,
otherwise their application cannot be considered.
As we try to make every effort to keep our administration costs as low as possible, we hope you
understand that your application documents and photographs will not be returned; the photographs
will be kept in our archive.
Applications without photographs will not be presented to the jury. Please do not send us CDs
with your application photographs, as our EDP system is not capable of making good quality
prints. We also ask you not to send us catalogues or portfolios.
The stall charges remain the same as last year and are as follows:

As in the past, the maximum stall size is between 8 - 9 metres.
The regulation so far for foreign potters (the choice between the charge according to stand size or
10% of turnover) has been retained.
The charge for the rental of a standard market stall (area 2.9 x 1.35 square metres) is 20 €.
The themes for the 2017 Market will be published later.
