and internet access. There are also furnished
dormitories available. Living in a dormitory of the
Studierendenwerk is calculable – there are no additional costs. You can get information about the
furnishing of the different houses in the chart.
Living in the accomodations of the Studierendenwerk never gets boring. The tutors in the residential
houses organize a program of different activities
each semester such as cooking events, welcome
evenings, cultural programs and trips. They will also
provide you with useful tips and information for a
successful stay in the „city of squares“.

You can easily ride your bike to university from
every housing complex in the city. If you rather like
to take train or bus, there is an excellent public
transport system in Mannheim. If you decide to
purchase the ÖPNV-student ticket, you can additionally benefit from a great transport system in the
whole area of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar
(VRN).

access to the university’s internet – so you don’t
need to worry about getting furniture and surfing is
for free. Also the housekeeping service is already
included, so you can fully concentrate on your studies. The caretakers will help you with your movein, repair dripping water-taps and they take care
of the outdoor facilities and secure the access
paths all the year round.

students. The Studierendenwerk Mannheim works
hard to offer as many suitable facilities as possible.
If you want an own apartment or a room with
shared facilities, if you like to live in a traditional
working-class area or a classy neighborhood –
the Studierendenwerk offers housing to satisfy
everyone. For newcomers in Mannheim a room
in a shared apartment would be perfect – you
can easily get in touch with other students while
cooking together or spending your evenings with
flat mates.
At the moment we provide about 3.200 places in
18 housing areas that serve all kinds of needs and
demands. From eco-friendly housing in the complex “Eastsite” over fancy old buildings in the best
neighborhoods or completely refurbished facilities
in the hip harbor area, to a former army site in the
Neckarstadt, which serves living in a village-like
surrounding with fellow students.
Famous sight: The Friedrichsplatz around Mannheim’s water
tower is a popular meeting point in the inner city.
