Use with other dampers may result in fitment problems. Overview This kit is suitable for all standard ride height MGA, MGB and MGC models. If fitting to a lowered vehicle, suitability must be established BEFORE the kit is installed, as it is not possible to return the kit once it has been fitted. IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT, DO NOT FIT THIS KIT. It is essential that the rear bump stops are retained for all applications, and under no circumstances should this kit be fitted if the bump stops are missing. Kit Contents 1 x RH upper mounting bracket 1 x LH upper mounting bracket 2 x 1/2 UNF x 2 1/4" bolts 2 x 1/2 UNF x 2 1/2" bolts 2 x 1/2 UNF nyloc nuts 4 x 1/2" x 1 1/4" o.d. plain washers 2 x 10 mm spacers 4 x 7/16" spring washers 8 x3/8 UNF nyloc nuts 2 x 1/2" spring washers Fitting Instructions Please check the contents of the kit against the above list before commencing, and also ensure that the telescopic dampers being used are of the type specified. No warranty exists for problems arising from the use of incorrect dampers. As with all work undertaken, good workshop practice is essential in order to prevent damage or injury. Chock the front road wheels and jack up the rear of the vehicle. Support the body with stands just forward of the rear spring, and ensure that the vehicle is safe, as you will be working under it. Also ensure that the axle and leaf springs are free and unsupported, otherwise you will not be able to fit the kit. Remove the rear wheels. Working inside the wheel arch undo the two bolts securing the rear lever arm damper to the chassis leg. Now working under the vehicle undo the nut securing the drop link to the lower bracket, and remove the shock absorber and drop link assembly from the car. Retain the shock absorber mounting bolts and nuts, as these will be required again. Repeat the procedure for the other side. Upper Mounting Brackets The upper mounting brackets are attached to the chassis legs using the standard lever arm damper nuts and bolts, together with the new 7/16" spring washers supplied in the kit. It is important that the brackets are correctly mounted, with the chamfered corner facing towards to front of the vehicle and the threaded damper mounting boss uppermost. For easy identification the brackets are stamped R (right) and L (left) respectively, the reference to right and left being from the driver's seat looking forward. Lower Mounting Brackets The conversion kit utilises the existing drop link mounting plates as the lower mounting plates. However, to allow fitting of the lower damper mounting bolts it is necessary to swap these over so that the mounting lugs face down instead of up. Support each spring with a jack and remove the 4 nuts securing the bracket to the U bolts. Inspect the U-bolts, bump stop pedestals and spring locater pads and replace Limora main office Industriepark Nord 19-21 D - 53567 Buchholz Jaguar: +49 (0) 26 83 - 70 61 Triumph: 70 62 Mini: 70 63 MG: 70 64 Austin Healey: 70 65 Fax: 70 59 E-Mail: [email protected] Limora Aachen Feldstraße 41 D - 52070 Aachen Tel: +49 (0) 241 - 55 939 0 Fax: +49 (0) 241 - 55 939 20 E-Mail: [email protected] Nous parlons français Wij spreken nederlands Limora Berlin Wiebestraße 36-37 D - 10553 Berlin Tel: +49 (0) 30 - 25 93 92 30 Fax: +49 (0) 30 - 25 93 92 33 E-Mail: [email protected] Limora Düsseldorf Harffstraße 110a D - 40591 Düsseldorf Tel: +49 (0) 211 - 98 471 01 Fax: +49 (0) 211 - 98 471 08 E-Mail: [email protected] Limora Stuttgart Graf-Zeppelin-Platz 1 (Wolfgang-Brumme-Allee 55) D - 71034 Böblingen Tel: +49 (0) 70 31 - 306 95 10 Fax: +49 (0) 70 31 - 306 95 12 E-Mail: [email protected] Limora Hamburg Hauptstraße 49 / Bl. Now swap the drop link mounting brackets over so that the left hand one becomes the right hand (the mounting lug will now face downwards) and re-fit to the bottom of the spring using the new 3/8 UNF nyloc nuts in the kit, tightening progressively to 26 lbs/ft (3.72kgs/m). Damper Mounting Ensure that the dampers are the correct way up and attach them to the upper mounting brackets using one 1/2 UNF x 2 1/4" bolt, 1/2" spring washer and 1/2" plain washer per side. Do not tighten up at this stage. Ensure that the lower adjusters, if present, are in an accessible position and attach the dampers to the lower brackets using one 1/2 UNF x 2 1/2" bolt, spacer (if required), 1/2" plain washer and 1/2 UNF nyloc nut per side. For ease of fitment the bolts should be fitted through the lower bracket with the nyloc nut innermost, however on the left hand side if exhaust clearance is an issue it is possible to improve this by fitting the bolt from the damper side instead. The spacers are provided to align the vertical position of each damper, but may not be required with all dampers. If they are necessary ensure that they are located between the dampers and the lower brackets. Tighten the top and bottom bolts to 50 lbs/ft (6.9 kgs/m). Re-check all nuts and bolts to complete the installation. Replace the rear wheels and remove the stands from the rear of the vehicle. Remove the chocks from the front wheels. Test drive the vehicle and, if required, adjust the dampers according to your personal preference. Ill. 1 Ill. 2: MGA, MGB to 1975 MY and MGC Ill. 3: MGB from 1975 MY
