Dear all,
the Board of the German Society of Orthopterology (“DGfO – Deutsche Gesellschaft
für Orthopterologie”), the Conference Organization Team and the Editorial Team of
“Articulata” would like to invite you to the 13th Conference of the DGfO. The
conference takes place from
28th to 30th March 2014
at the “Haus der Natur” in Salzburg (Museumsplatz 5, A-5020 Salzburg).
The conference will start on Friday afternoon with the registration. Conference hotels
are located nearby (within 15 min. walk) in the city centre (details see below). On
Friday there is a get-together at 6 p.m. at the “Braustüberl Augustinergasse”
(Lindhofstr. 7; near to the “Mönchsberg”), where an evening lecture on “The
Orthoptera fauna of the Spanish Pyrenees” will be given at 8.30 p.m.
The conference fee is €25 for students and members of the DGfO and €35 for nonmembers. It can be paid on Saturday from 9 a.m. on at the conference desk. On
Saturday and Sunday morning there will be talks on various fields of Orthoptera
research. The conference language will be English and German.
During the conference, each participant gets a score card for the “Haus der Natur”
that allows to visit the museum for free. A visit to all the exhibition rooms will take
about three hours. A guided tour for small groups through the collections of the
museum is also possible and takes about one hour. The “Haus der Natur” is open
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday afternoon there is the
possibility to do a city tour through Salzburg.
The general assembly of the DGfO will be held on Saturday afternoon. As always on
our conferences, there will be a book table with the most recent literature.
Travelling to the “Haus der Natur” in Salzburg
By public transport
From Salzburg main station
Trolleybus line 1 towards the city centre to bus stop “Mönchsbergaufzug”, from
there about 100 meters towards the Salzach to the museum entrance.
From P+R car park “Salzburg Süd”
Trolleybus line 3 to bus stop “Theatergasse”, then cross the Salzach on the
“Makartsteg”, walk about 200 meters downstream along the river on the “FranzJosef-Kai”, then turn left to the museum entrance.
From Salzburg airport
Trolleybus line 2 from the airport to bus stop “Gaswerkgasse”, then with trolleybus
line 7 to bus stop “Mönchsbergaufzug”, from there about 100 meters towards the
Salzach to the museum entrance.

By car
Salzburg is located at an intersection of the European highway network: Here the
E60/A1 Vienna – Salzburg, the German A8 Munich – Salzburg and the E55/A10
Villach – Salzburg meet. Please note that you have to buy an Austrian badge sticker
for your journey to Salzburg!
Take the highway exit “Salzburg Mitte" towards the city centre. The nearest parking
lot in the old town of Salzburg is the car park “Altstadtgarage Mitte, Section A".
There is a signpost for the “Haus der Natur”, walking distance only a few minutes.
Your parking ticket can be validated at the museum, which makes parking much
cheaper! WARNING: parking tickets of the Red Cross car park can not be validated!
