Note: It should be noted that in Peter Hessel's "McNab - The Township" it mentions a that a Duncan ANDERSON
was a brother-in-law to Catherine FISHER, (see McCALLUM Family History). A Duncan ANDERSON settled
lawfully on government land in what is now McNab Township with the intention of acquiring title along with several
others (called squatters in Hessel) prior to the arrival of Archibald, the Laird of McNab. These early settlers signed an
agreement with the Laird on July 1, 1825 in Montreal. Duncan was first at Lot 14, Conc. 4, McNab Twp and traded it
for Lot 18, Conc. 1, McNab Twp. On this lot was Duncan Anderson's Tavern in the Village of Burnstown. This lot
was later sold to David LECKIE who sold it to John McCALLUM who later sold it to James HUSTON and then to Tom
YUILL. Present owner is the McLEOD Brothers. It should also be noted that there was a Kate ANDERSON on the list
of immigrants who paid their own expenses and this list included squatters. Is she related to this Duncan
ANDERSON? Lot 18, Conc. 1, McNab Twp on December 12, 1844 from the Crown to Duncan ANDERSON, 200
acres. September 18, 1845 Duncan ANDERSON to David LEAKIE for 550 £. Note: A Duncan ANDERSON died 2
