FUN!

The looped circuit around Lake St. Jean covers 256 kilometres
and runs through 15 municipalities, including the Montagnais
community of Mashteuiatsh. It leads to Parc national de la PointeTaillon and dozens of communities located along the perimeter
roads. The circuit runs along many tourist attractions, overlooks
Lake St. Jean tributary rivers, and is linked to the Saguenay Region via a partner network. It is further bordered by a number
of restaurants, campgrounds, hotels/motels/inns, and bed &
breakfasts.
Maisons du vélo
Three Maisons du vélo along the Véloroute
des Bleuets bike path provide amenities and
information to riders. They are open every day
from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, June 24 to September 1.

Travelling
Surfaces
Bike paths
Paved surfaces with amenities and reserved
exclusively for Véloroute users. These are completely separate from roadways.
Paved shoulders
Paved strips 1.5 to 1.7 meters wide and located
on either side of roadways.
Designated road surface
Stretch along a low-traffic street or roadway, officially designated as a cycling path without corridors
and reserved for cyclists, and with appropriate signs
to warn drivers of your presence.
Rest areas for cyclists
35 free rest areas are set up along the
circuit and identified with this pictogram. They
are easy to find with the milestone posts. Each is
equipped with picnic tables, waste receptacles and
bike racks.
12 detailed maps
Map 1 is an overall look at the entire Véloroute des
Bleuets network along with its three associated bike
paths. Maps 2 to 12 depict sections of the 256 km
network in detail, including associated bike paths.
The maps in this guide are shown clockwise around
the lake. The circuit can be started at any point along
the network.
Town networks
Biking networks created and maintained by the
towns they cross.
Route verte
Marked cycling network linking Québec’s most
beautiful regions; it includes bike paths (paved or
stone dust), paved shoulders, and designated road
surfaces (routeverte.com).
Partner networks
Associated cycling networks, developed and maintained in collaboration with the Véloroute.
Parc national de la
Pointe-Taillon bike path
Marked stone-dust trail exclusively reserved for
park visitors ($). Maintained by Parcs Québec
management.
Milestone posts
Milestone posts are signs that help you calculate
distances and situate yourself on maps. They
start and end at Sainte-Monique-de-Honfleur
because this is where the first shovelful was
turned in 1998.
An easy to intermediate
network
Except for the Parc national de la PointeTaillon and “Au Fil des rivières” trails, the
network is 100% paved. 46% of the network is bike paths, 21% is designated road surfaces
and 33% is paved shoulders. There are only three
short hills with 9% inclines or greater.
Accessibility
Access to the network is free – The cycling
network is available to everyone in good physical
condition and without medical restrictions. People
with limited mobility should visit the Kéroul Website
at: larouteaccessible.com.
La Véloroute des Bleuets welcomes
all hikers and trekkers.
All cyclist services are also available to
hikers and trekkers. Welcome one and all!

Véloroute des Bleuets
Ambassadors
Some 70 volunteers wear the red jerseys that identify them as
“Véloroute des Bleuets Ambassadors”. They stroll along the network
to wish you welcome, inform you, and ensure the safety and security
of all cyclists. They are equipped with cell phones, basic tool kits, and first-aid kits.
The Ambassadors are ever present all along the network. They are specially trained to know all about
the network, tourist attractions, bike mechanics, and are certified for CPR. Do not hesitate to address
them during your outing.

Regulations and Information
Tips from your manufacturer
If you want to have the best bike experience this season, make sure to start your
season with a routine visit at your local
retailer.
Before each ride, check the pressure as
well as the wear and tear of your tires. The
recommended pressure is always indicated
on the side of your wheel.
Never leave without: an extra inner tube,
tire lever, air pomp, Allen keys and, most
important, your helmet!
Proud to create bikes and passions in
Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean since 1987.

The Kenogami Horst is an
elevation which constitutes a
natural border between the
Saguenay and Lac-Saint-Jean
sub-regions. The horst has an
irregular outline that is
characteristic of the Laurentides
