Fire Fighters Supporting Muscular Dystrophy Canada
This weekend, June 24-26th, the Westphal Cole Harbour Fire Fighters will be holding their
28th annual 50 hour Ladder Sit in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada. This year’s
ladder sitter is Mark Burgess, a long time supporter of MDC. These Fire Fighters volunteer
many hours before and during the weekend to make it a financial success for MDC. Mark
begins his journey at noon on Friday (Sobeys Forest Hills Drive parking lot in Cole
Harbour)and finishes at 2pm on Sunday. It would be wonderful to have many families
drop by during the weekend, especially on Sunday to celebrate their success and
personally thank the Fire Fighters for their amazing support.

Meet our Fredericton Walk for Muscular Dystrophy Ambassadors
Hi, We’re the Fallons!
We became involved with the walk because our son Rorke was
diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy at age four months
and we wanted to do all it takes to raise awareness and money for a
cure! The Walk for Muscular Dystrophy brings people education
which raises awareness and lets people know that our son and
others affected by neuromuscular disorders need a cure.
Our favorite memory from a past walk was our second walk when
our son was sitting on the ground because he could not walk then and he was dancing using his upper body trying to
warm up and loved the huge smile on his face!
We like to fundraise for the walk and volunteer with the Oromocto Fire Department for the ladder sit, we hold a boot
and help with the BBQ and spread the word using social media. Please join us at the Fredericton Walk for Muscular
Dystrophy-it’s a wonderful experience and a chance to meet people, share challenges and take part in all of the
activities.
