Marko Erman, est diplômé de l’Ecole polytechnique (X75) et de l’Ecole nationale supérieure des
télécommunications. Il est titulaire d’une thèse de doctorat de l’université d’Orsay et d’un doctorat
d’Etat es sciences de l’université Pierre et Marie Curie.
Après avoir été Directeur de la Division Recherche Exploratoire, puis de la Divisions Imagerie
Professionnelle des Laboratoires Electroniques Philips (LEP), il rejoint Alcatel en 1991. En 1993, il
est nommé directeur de la Division Composants Optoélectroniques au sein du Corporate Research
Centre, et en 1997, directeur du Département Systèmes Optiques. En 2001, il est nommé directeur
Technique et directeur de la Stratégie d’Alcatel Optronics. En 2003, il a rejoint le groupe Thales,
comme directeur de la Recherche et de la Technologie de la Division Systèmes Terre et Interarmées.
En avril 2009, Marko Erman prend la fonction de directeur Technique, Recherche et Technologie du
Groupe. En février 2010, Marko Erman a rejoint le comité exécutif du Groupe.
Marko Erman a reçu la médaille Blondel et est membre de l’Académie des Technologies.

Dr Marko Erman graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique in 1977, and got a second Engineer diploma
from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications in 1980. He obtained a PhD diploma
from Solid State Physics at the University of Orsay and a Doctorat d’Etat es Science from the
University Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris.
Dr Erman spent several years managing research activities within Philips as Director of Exploratory
Research Division, and than Director of Professional Imaging Division. After joining Alcatel in 1991,
he became within the Corporate Research Center, the Director of the Opto-electronic components
Division of Alcatel in 1993, and in 1997, Director of the Optical Systems Department. In 2001, he was
appointed Chief Technical Officer & Vice President Strategy of Alcatel Optronics. In 2003, he joined
Thales as Director of Research & Technology of the Land & Joint Systems Division. In April 2009,
Marko Erman was appointed Chief Technical Officer of Thales.
In February 2010, Marko Erman became a member of the Executive Committee, Senior Vice
President and Chief Technical Officer of the Thales Group.
Dr Erman has received the Blondel Award and is member of the French Academy of Technology.
