Le village des Houches se trouve au cœur des Alpes, dans la vallée de Chamonix. Fondée en 1951, l’Ecole de Physique est située à 1150 m d’altitude, dans un décor champêtre, face à la chaîne du Mont-Blanc. L’Ecole de Physique des Houches est rattachée à l’Université Joseph Fourier – Grenoble I (UJF). L’école est un service interuniversitaire commun à l’UJF et à GrenobleINP, subventionné par l’UJF, le Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) et la Direction des Sciences de la Matière du Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique (CEA/DSM).
