Using your iPad inside and out­
side the language classroom

English
This very practical course will show you
how to use an iPad in your language
teaching. There will be periods of handson time for you to experiment with the
resources, try out some (free) apps etc.
The workshop is intended for teachers
who are new or fairly new to iPads, and
may not be appropriate for very proficient
power users.
It’s also intended for teachers who do
not yet have iPads and who would like to
learn about their potential. Participants
should bring their iPads with them if they
have one.
Note that we shall focus on iPads and
the Apple iOS platform in the workshop:
other tablets and platforms (eg Android)
will not be addressed.
The seminar will look at websites and
tools that are suitable for learning English
both inside and outside the classroom for all ages and all levels, and will demonstrate their usefulness in the areas
of listening, reading, speaking, marking
written homework, and setting speaking
homework tasks. All of the websites and
tools can be used for preparing Cambridge Exam classes. Educational Apps
for smartphones will also be included.
Note
Please bring a laptop and a smartphone
with you, as well as a set of earplugs so
you can listen to things without disturbing
other people. Alternatively, you can bring
an ipad/large tablet, though it will be more
difficult to work with it for this seminar. Make sure your battery is fully charged for the start of the seminar.
