Au c ur de la Lombardie, Monza est un circuit très rapide que
les pilotes abordent avec grand respect car le tracé requiert un
pilotage technique et rythmé. Les mécaniques sont sollicitées
et les freinages … l'arme absolue.
Monza temple de la vitesse, l'image est, il est vrai, universelle.
Mais il ne faut cependant pas oublier que Monza est aussi un
rendez-vous incontournable de l'endurance. Dans la droite
lignée des G.P de l'Autodromo 1953 puis des Supercortemaggiore

1954 et 55, les 1000 km de Monza ont vu le jour en 1966, au
plus fort du duel Ferrari-Ford. Depuis ils occupent une place de choix au calendrier international
et ont vu Alfa Romeo, Porsche, Lola, Rondeau, Toyota, McLaren, Jaguar ou Sauber inscrire leurs
noms sur leur Livre d'Or. Qui cette année, de Pescarolo à Zytek, Creation ou Courage va ajouter le
sien à l'occasion de la seconde manche de Le Mans Endurance Series trois semaines seulement
après les 24 Heures du Mans ?
OFFICIAL TIME
Located near Milan, Monza is a very fast circuit. The drivers approach it with respect since
the layout of the track requires very technical driving. The engines have a hard time and the
braking is… the perfect counter.
Monza is mainly considered as the speed Mecca. Nevertheless, we must keep in mind that
Monza is a must in the endurance-racing history. Keeping to the tradition of the Autodromo
Gran Premio in1953 then the Supercortemaggiore (1954 & 55), the 1000 km of Monza were
born in 1966, at the time the Ferrari-Ford fight was very harsh. Since then, they have been
occupying a major rank on the international calendar. Alfa Romeo, Porsche, Lola, Rondeau,
Toyota, McLaren, Jaguar or Sauber have written their name in golden letters on the 1,000KM
of Monza book. Who will this year, from Pescarolo to Zytek, Creation or Courage, add its
name on the occasion of the second round of the Le Mans Endurance Series only three weeks
after the 24 Hours of Le Mans ?
Les 1000KM de Monza seront un meeting un peu spécial puisque
Le Mans Endurance Series et le circuit de Monza proposent aux clubs et aux propriétaires
d'une sélection de voitures un package "espace clubs /tours de piste"
The meeting in Monza will be a particular one since
the Le Mans Endurance Series organisers and the circuit of Monza offer
the clubs and owners of selected cars, a "Club enclosure/track laps" package

Après Spa et les 24 Heures… After Spa and the 24 Hours…
La seconde épreuve de Le Mans Endurance Series ne sera pas la revanche des 24 Heures du
Mans mais bien celle de Spa ! En l’absence de l’Audi R8 du Team Oreca, que nous retrouverons
dès Silverstone et après le triplé de la marque allemande en 2004, les concurrents de la
catégorie reine, rejoints par la Dome – Judd de Jan Lammers vont se livrer une lutte acharnée.
Ovationné sur le podium des 24 Heures du Mans, Henri Pescarolo déclarait « deux secondes
places (1000km de Spa & 24 Heures du Mans) je suis prêt pour Monza… » Nous aussi !
The second Le Mans Endurance Series round will not be the revenge of the 24 Hours of Le
Mans, but definitely the one of Spa. In the absence of the Team Oreca's Audi R8 that will rejoin
the field from Silverstone onwards and after Audi came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 2004, the “LM” P1
competitors joined by Jan Lammers and its Dome – Judd will take up a hard struggle . As for
Henri Pescarolo, who was given an ovation during the prize giving said "after having
ranked twice second (1000 km of Spa & 24 Hours of Le Mans), I am all set for Monza…"
So are we!

Series, C.E.R met sur la piste pendant 1 heure les stars de l'endurance (1966/1970)

la F3, qui a démarré en Angleterre dans les années 60, de nombreux pilotes de
GT et Sport Prototypes.

FLASHBACK : Le Mans Endurance Series - Monza 2004
L'année passée, Monza était non seulement le premier round de la saison, mais
également le premier meeting de la toute nouvelle série Le Mans Endurance
Series. Courue dans son intégralité sous un ciel incertain, la course a vu sa dernière
heure … mouvementée avec l'apparition d'une pluie diluvienne …
Last year, Monza was not only the first round of the season, but the launch of
the brand new Le Mans Endurance Series. Run under a tricky weather the race
had an interesting finish with rain pouring down all along the track during
the final hour…
