TRINITY BELLWOODS PARK
I ride my bike through this park every morning. I love
the juxtaposition of nature and urban cool, with p
­ eople
having picnics, walking on tightropes, playing guitar.
I always think of it as the Georges Seurat painting
A Sunday on La Grande Jatte but with modern-day hipsters.  J’y passe en vélo tous les matins. J’adore ce coin
de nature où les urbains se détendent en faisant un piquenique, en pratiquant la corde raide ou en jouant de la guitare. C’est comme Un dimanche à la Grande Jatte, le tableau
de Georges Seurat, mais avec des branchés contemporains.
GOTSTYLE
I’m more of a jeans and T-shirt guy, but the clothing
brands I gravitate toward are Levi’s and Paul Smith.
I’ll stop by this menswear shop on my way home on
my bike because the Bathurst location is in my neighbourhood.  Je suis plutôt du genre jean et tee-shirt,
mais mes marques préférées sont Levi’s et Paul Smith.
Je fais un saut à cette boutique quand je rentre à la
­maison en vélo, car la boutique de Bathurst est dans
mon quartier.

THE LAKEVIEW RESTAURANT
I come here every Friday night with my family. The
place has been here forever. It’s a true Toronto staple,
with an Art Deco interior that gives it a cool vibe. My
favourite dish is the Freedom Toast – French toast
stuffed with peameal bacon and cheese.  J’y vais le
vendredi soir en famille. C’est une institution torontoise,
vraiment cool avec son intérieur Art déco. Mon plat préféré est le Freedom Toast, du pain doré au bacon enrobé de
maïs et au fromage.

PERRY LANE
The trick to get to the west end quickly from downtown
is to take the laneway that runs just south of Queen off
of Bathurst. It has amazing graffiti and murals, with a
jumble of delivery people and restaurant workers hanging out.  Le truc pour se rendre à l’ouest rapidement
depuis le centre-ville est d’emprunter cette petite rue au
sud de Queen à partir de Bathurst. Elle a de super graffitis
et murales, et c’est un vrai ballet de livreurs et d’employés
de restaurants.

COMMERCE COURT WEST
I.M. Pei’s unsung modernist gem has always been overpowered by Mies van der Rohe’s Toronto-Dominion
Centre across the street, but it is still my favourite of
those two buildings. It’s this amazingly clean slab that
comes right down into the ground, like the monolith in
2001: A Space Odyssey.  Le Toronto-Dominion Centre
de Mies van der Rohe, de l’autre côté de la rue, a toujours
fait de l’ombre à ce joyau moderniste d’I.M. Pei ; des deux,
c’est pourtant celui que je préfère. J’admire cet immeuble
d’un seul bloc qui plonge dans le sol, un peu comme le
monolithe de 2001, l’odyssée de l’espace.

LAHORE TIKKA HOUSE
I love taking the Gardiner, crossing a modern, organized
city and then landing in Little India at this Pakistani restaurant, which seems to always be under construction.
You might be sitting on a picnic table on the patio, but
the bathrooms are marble-clad and come equipped with
TVs.  J’adore rouler sur la Gardiner et traverser une
ville ­moderne et organisée pour me retrouver dans Little
India à ce restaurant pakistanais qui semble perpétuellement en travaux. Si la terrasse est meublée de tables de
pique-nique, les toilettes sont tout en marbre et équipées
de télés.
