Der Fotografenworkshop 2013
Ein abstraktes Thema in Bilder umzusetzen und die
thematische und künstlerische Auseinandersetzung in
kürzester Zeit in einer Ausstellung zusammenzufassen –
das war die Herausforderung, der sich sechs renommierte
Fotografen aus dem Kosovo, Mali, Palästina, Ungarn,
Deutschland und der Mongolei stellten. Gemeinsam hatten
sie in Pristina eine Woche lang Zeit, das Thema „Zukunftsentwickler“ zu interpretieren. Das Ergebnis: eine Fotoausstellung, die das Thema in seinem ganzen Facettenreichtum
beleuchtet und es vom Abstrakten ins Konkrete führt.
Das Bild des Fotografen als Einzelkämpfer hat die GIZ
bereits mit ihrem ersten Workshop 2008 ausräumen
können. In diesem Jahr hat sich einmal mehr gezeigt, wie
reizvoll und bereichernd die für Fotografen meist ungewohnte Arbeit in der Gruppe sein kann.
Mitdiskutieren, aber nicht einmischen: Nach diesem Credo
handelt die GIZ bei diesem Projekt – und übernimmt die
Rolle als Gastgeberin, ohne Diskussionen zu lenken oder
Entscheidungen zu beeinflussen. Es sind die Fotografen, die
sich für ein Motiv entscheiden, die Auswahl der Bilder
treffen und die Kompositionen anordnen. Denn nur mit
dieser Freiheit können sie ihrer Rolle als Akteure des
gesellschaftlichen Lebens auch gerecht werden und somit
wichtige Impulse geben, die die Arbeit der GIZ bereichern.
Sie können entscheidende Fragen unserer Zeit öffentlich
zum Ausdruck bringen und zum Nachdenken anregen.
Ab Februar werden die Bilder ein Jahr lang in der GIZRepräsentanz Berlin zu sehen sein. Gleichzeitig sollen sie
auch dieses Mal wieder eine Reise durch die Welt antreten;
fest eingeplant sind bereits Ausstellungen in Pristina,
in Budapest und im LVR-Landesmuseum Bonn.
Nachdem der Workshop im vergangenen Jahr in Äthiopien
stattgefunden hatte, war 2012 Kosovo Quelle der Inspiration. Pristina bot der Fotografengruppe eine spannende
Umgebung, um abseits von Klischees eine Ausstellung zu
entwickeln, die die Kraft hat, weltweit für Denkanstöße und
Diskussionen zu sorgen.

Six well-known photographers from Kosovo, Palestine,
Mali, Hungary, Mongolia and Germany recently spent a
week in Pristina getting to grips with the theme of
‘Future-makers’. It was quite a challenge: in a few short
days, they had to capture this abstract concept in
celluloid and create an exhibition summarising the key
thematic and artistic issues raised. The result was a
collection of photographs that illustrate all aspects of this
multi-faceted, complex topic.
Since the first workshop in 2008, GIZ has been combating the typical image of the photographer as a solitary
artist. This year showed once again how inspiring and
enriching it can be for photographers to work in a group,
as they so rarely do.
Last year’s workshop was held in Ethiopia, so this time
round it was Kosovo’s turn to provide the source of
inspiration. Pristina proved an enthralling environment
for the group to put together an exhibition that eschews
clichés and has the power to provoke thought and debate
around the world.
‘Contribute to the discussion, but don’t interfere’ – that’s
GIZ’s motto for this project. It plays the part of host
without attempting to steer the discussion or influence
the decisions. It is the photographers who choose the
motif, select the pictures and compose the exhibition.
They need that freedom to be able to fully exercise their
role as social actors, and in doing so to provide important stimuli for GIZ’s work. They are able to publicly
explore some of the important issues of our time, and to
provide food for thought.
From February 2013, the pictures will be on display for a
year in the GIZ Representation in Berlin. At the same
time, as in previous years, they will be sent around the
world in a travelling exhibition. Locations already fixed
include Pristina, Budapest and the LVR-Landesmuseum
in Bonn.

Transcrire un thème abstrait en images puis, en un temps
très court, synthétiser ce travail thématique et artistique
dans le cadre d’une exposition, tel est le défi que six
photographes renommés de Hongrie, du Kosovo, du
Mali, de la Mongolie, de la Palestine et d’Allemagne ont
décidé de relever. Réunis à Pristina, ils avaient une
semaine pour interpréter le thème « Développeurs
d’avenir ». Le résultat : une exposition photographique
qui explore le thème sous toutes ses facettes, tout en
conduisant de l’abstrait vers le concret.
Dès son premier atelier photo en 2008, la GIZ avait pu
dissiper l’idée reçue selon laquelle le photographe serait un
artiste solitaire. Une fois de plus, il est apparu cette année
à quel point le travail en groupe peut être stimulant et
enrichissant pour les photographes.
Tandis que l’année précédente, l’atelier s’était tenu en
Éthiopie, c’est le Kosovo qui, en 2012, a été la source
d’inspiration des photographes. Pristina a fourni un cadre
très intéressant pour créer, loin de tous les clichés, une
exposition qui soit à même de lancer des pistes de
réflexion et d’encourager le débat un peu partout dans le
monde.
Prendre part aux débats sans être intrusive, telle est la ligne
de conduite que s’est fixée la GIZ dans ce projet : elle
s’occupe de l’organisation de l’atelier sans pour autant
influer sur les débats ou les prises de décisions. Ce sont les
photographes eux-mêmes qui choisissent les motifs de
leurs photos, puis en font une sélection et agencent les
compositions. En effet, cette liberté est la condition
nécessaire pour qu’ils puissent tenir leur rôle d’acteurs
dans la vie sociétale et donner des impulsions importantes
et enrichissantes pour l’activité de la GIZ. Ils peuvent ainsi
mettre sur le devant de la scène des questions d’une
importance décisive et stimuler la réflexion.
À partir de février, les photos pourront être admirées une
année durant à la Représentation de la GIZ à Berlin.
Parallèlement, elles partiront cette fois encore pour un
voyage autour du monde ; on sait déjà avec certitude
qu’elles feront étape à Pristina, à Budapest et au Musée
régional rhénan de Bonn.
« Développeurs d’avenir » est le thème phare commun du BMZ, de la GIZ et de la banque de développement KfW.
