Nuclear waste management Code référence : 847 OBJECTIFS The main objective is to know the technologies for each type of nuclear waste, depending on their type and activity : • give an overview of the law applied to the French nuclear waste management and the associated safety aspects; • present the categories of nuclear waste produced by the French nuclear industry; • identify the origin, the nature, the volumes of nuclear waste; • present the activities on solid and liquid nuclear waste treatment and conditioning; • present the inventory, characterization, management of technological waste, treatment and conditioning of waste; • describe the nuclear waste management options; • know the specific issues of waste conditioning; • have a general background on decommissioning techniques and issues. PUBLIC Engineers, researchers and PhD students involved in nuclear industry: nuclear industry companies, research centres, Technical Safety Organizations (TSO), regulatory bodies. PRÉ-REQUIS Radiation protection, fuel cycle, principles of light water reactors (LWRs). MÉTHODE Lectures and conferences (1-2 days). Technical visits (3-4 days). Maximum number of trainees : 16.
