pleasure that we invite you to join us in Manhattan for the
next AIJA Fall Conference on November 11-14, 2009, which
will combine a cutting-edge academic program with an
exciting social program.
Held at the historic Roosevelt Hotel, a prominent landmark
situated in midtown Manhattan, the conference will host –
in addition to the commission and management committee
meetings – a one-and-a-half day seminar and a skill program
as follows:
Seminar – International Lending - Hot Finance and Tax Law
Issues
Participants in the international lending market are
facing challenging times as a result of the wide reaching
repercussions of the financial crisis. This highly relevant
seminar on international lending will – after a brief
introduction – address recent developments and hot issues
relating to finance, insolvency and tax law which arise with
increasing frequency in the current financial climate. We will
touch upon issues for lenders’ and borrowers’ counsel to
consider, with input from high-profile speakers from private
practice and the industry generally.
Introduction
Skills Development Program
During the Conference you will have a unique opportunity to
continually develop your communication and relationshipbuilding skills during sessions and informally during our
breaks and social events. Throughout our event, we will
be assisted by Debra Forman, PCC, Pinstripe Coaching,
a certified executive coach who has over 25 years of
experience working with lawyers wanting to improve their
communication skills and attain professional and business
development goals. Debra, our conference “resident
coach,” will not only be present throughout the event to
give personal coaching sessions to those interested but
will also conduct a workshop together with the Future of
the Profession Commission, entitled “Best Communication
and Social Networking Practices for Lawyers: Winning and
Keeping Your Internal and External Clients Effectively”. In
this workshop, you will be provided with best practice tips
and materials to assist you in your daily practice, with a
particular focus on honing your communication skills so as
to make you better practitioners.

restaurants, bars and clubs as well as for its many cultural
highlights and beautiful sight-seeing attractions. From

Les intervenants du marché des prêts internationaux font
face à des défis stimulants engendrés par les répercussions
de la crise financière. Après une brève introduction, ce
séminaire de grande actualité portant sur les prêts internationaux, traitera des événements récents et des questions
brûlantes concernant la finance, l’insolvabilité et la fiscalité
qui surgissent régulièrement dans le contexte financier
actuel. Nous aborderons des questions que les avocats des
prêteurs et des emprunteurs doivent considérer et nous
recevrons les conseils avisés y relatifs d’orateurs spécialisés
du secteur privé et de l’industrie en général.

Cancellations received after 21.10.2009 may be charged the full stay plus tax, to
the card number provided as the accommodation guarantee, if all of the room
nights cancelled are not re-sold to another delegate. We regret that we are unable to re-sell the room nights back to the hotels.
Immigration: Check with your travel agent, airline, nearest US Embassy or
online with regard to immigration regulations, visa application process as
well as application for an electronic travel authorization (ESTA), which is
compulsory, even if you are a citizen of a country listed under the US Visa
Waiver Program.
Dress code: Business (seminars and conference) or smart casual (evening
program other than Saturday) or black-tie (gala dinner on Saturday evening).
