Vous n’avez pas encore vu Dheepan, Palme d’Or au Festival de Cannes ?
Du 11 au 25 novembre 2015, le Festival du Film Franco-Arabe a lieu à Jérusalem et dans 6 villes palestiniennes
(Ramallah, Naplouse, Jénine, Bethléem, Hébron et Gaza). Neuf films, sélectionnés par un jury franco-palestinien,
seront projetés, parmi lesquels Dheepan, Mustang , Loin des hommes et The Wanted 18.
A travers une perspective sociale ou historique, la programmation du Festival met en lumière les liens qui unissent
la France et les pays arabes du bassin méditerranéen. Chacun de ces films nous apporte un point de vue spécifique
sur des sujets d’actualité autour de la Méditerranée : l’immigration, les combats pour l’indépendance, la lutte pour
la justice, ou encore la place des femmes dans nos sociétés.

From the 11th until the 25th of November, the Franco-Arab Film Festival in Palestine will take place in Jerusalem and 6
Palestinian cities (Ramallah, Nablus, Jenin, Bethlehem, Hebron and Gaza), showing 9 different movies among which
Dheepan, Mustang, Far from Men, The Wanted 18 and many others.
Selected by a franco-palestinian jury, these 9 movies highlight, through a social or a historical perspective, the links
that exist between France and Arab countries all around the Mediterranean sea, and even beyond. Each one of these
also shows us a specific point of view over current topics such as immigration, struggles for independence, fight for
justice, gender issues…

Far from Men a film by David Oelhoffen
It’s summer in Tangier. A family gathers during 3
days in the family home following the passing of their
father in order to reminisce and share their burden,
as the Muslim tradition expects. All is shattered when
Sofia, the youngest daughter, the one that built her
life elsewhere, shows up. Her homecoming will be the
occasion for her to settle the score with her sisters
and disrupt the order established by the patriarch.
Between laughter and tears, a collective hysteria will
lead each of these women to rediscover themselves.

remémorer les souvenirs et partager sa perte, comme
le veut la tradition musulmane. Tout va basculer avec
l’arrivée de Sofia, la dernière des filles, celle qui a fait
sa vie ailleurs. Son retour va être le moyen de régler
ses comptes avec ses sœurs et bouleverser l’ordre
établi depuis toujours par ce patriarche. Entre rire et
larmes, une hystérie collective va mener chacune de
ces femmes à se révéler à elle-même...
Fuyant la guerre civile au Sri Lanka, un ancien soldat, une
jeune femme et une petite fille se font passer pour une
famille. Réfugiés en France dans une cité sensible, se
connaissant à peine, ils tentent de se construire un foyer.

Amar, 10 ans, vit seul avec son oncle violent et buveur, depuis que sa
mère, veuve, est partie se remarier en Belgique. C’est alors qu’Amar
fait une rencontre salvatrice : Carmen. Cette espagnole exilée au
Maroc lui fait découvrir un monde d’aventures et de chansons en
l’invitant à chaque projection dans son cinéma.
Durant les premières années euphoriques qui suivent
l’indépendance de leur pays, deux amis, Djaffar et
Hamid sont promis à un bel avenir dans une Algérie
libre. Jusqu’au jour où la trahison les sépare.

The Man from Oran
10-year-old Amar lives alone with his drunk and violent uncle ever
since his widowed mother left for Belgium to get remarried. And
then, Amar meets Carmen. The Spanish woman, living in Morocco,
introduces him to a world of adventures and songs by inviting him to
each filmscreening held in her cinema.
