Normandy (Basse-Normandie) can easily be described as the best
stable in the world. Its oceanic climate, the special quality of its
soil and its rich pastures are very conducive to horse breeding.
41 breeds are listed here and each one is carefully preserved.
Undeniably, it is the birthplace of prestigious breeds, as the “Selle Français”;
ideal horse breed for equestrian events requiring strength, poise, distinction,
respect and intelligence.
Normandy has also a worldwide notoriety for producing champions
in all disciplines – trotters, thoroughbreds and sport horses.
After several decades of genetic selection and the professionalization
of the breeders, Normandy has become the main sport horse breeding
region in France.
