Jörg Gessner - Galerie Fatiha Selam
Jörg Gessner
Born in 1967 in Rudesheim am Rhein (Germany), Jörg Gessner lives and works in Paris since
1989. That year, he began studying fashion design and fashion model in Studio Berçot. He
continued his studies in textile design at Studio Melvin Anderson (Milan).
Jörg Gessner’s designer career took a new direction in 2004 during a visit to Japan, where he
met Yoshinao Sugihara, tenth generation descendant of Hanshirou Sugihara, founder of the real
factory of washi. Thus, after a rich career in textile design and design of objects, Jörg Gessner
chose to dedicate himself to Japanese paper. He became one of best connoisseurs. He
experiences paper to compose a demanding work. Since that turning point, Jörg Gessner is
associated with traditional washi-making workshops in the province of Echizen. He also works
with Hermès since 2010 and since 2011 with Guerlain.
