We are happy that you have chosen Université Laval as your summer
destination. To help you prepare for your trip, we have created this
brochure in the hope that it will answer some of your questions regarding
housing and related matters.
ARRIVAL
RESIDENCE SERVICES
DON’T FORGET
• Register for housing in PARENT Pavilion, Room 1618,
upon arrival.
• Pay phones on every floor.
• All students must arrive on the weekend (Saturday
or Sunday) prior to the Monday of the placement test.
• Laundry room in the basement; detergent sold at the
convenience store.
• To bring a hair dryer, clock, clock-radio and portable
radio, soap for your personal use, toothpaste, toothbrush,
shampoo, and an umbrella or raincoat.
• If a student wants to arrive earlier, he or she absolutely
must have an early-arrival confirmation from the Laval
Residence Service. Otherwise, there may not be any
rooms available. Please make an effort not to arrive early.
• Access to full cooking facilities in each building.
• If you are coming from the United States, bring some
Canadian money with you; you should be able to obtain
a good exchange rate at your local bank.
• Bring your own utensils, pots and pans to make full use
of the kitchen facilities available to students.
• Identify your luggage clearly and indicate your destination
on it.
• Should your parents accompany you on your journey,
rooms may be available at low cost, but prior reservation
is needed.
• Vending machines.

• All rooms are single rooms.
• Bedding and towels are included.
• There is a wash basin in each room.
• Shared bathrooms on each floor.
• TV rooms in each residence hall.
• Information desk staffed 24 hours a day
in PARENT Pavilion, Room 1618, 418 656-5632.

can be made with calling cards).
RENT PAYMENT
• Drinking alcohol is allowed only in rooms.
• You can rent a refrigerator and a microwave and keep
them in your room for the duration of your stay.
• All students who are not part of the Canadian FederalProvincial bursary programs will have to pay their entire
room rent in one payment upon arrival.
• Each room has Ethernet capability. The connection fee
and the computer are not included in the rent.
• Do not bring one cheque to cover everything; this causes
more problems than it solves, since the various university
services have no financial relations with one other.
• Cooking is not allowed in the rooms under
any circumstances.
• Room payment is one thing, program tuition is another,
and each meal must be paid for separately.
• No gatherings in rooms after 11 pm. In fact, no loud
gatherings permitted on the floors at any time.
• Payment is expected in Canadian funds.
CAFETERIA
• Food service and eating facilities are centralized in tow
building : CHARLES-DE KONINCK Pavilion (418 656-2927)

but it closes early. Therefore, should you arrive late in the
