TEA TIME WITH
LOUIS
MONDAY ,APRIL 4TH : FOURTH ISSUE
A STRANGE LIGHT
Monday March 1st, some strange events took place in the vicinity of
St Jean d’Angély. In a field, some signs of a UFO (Unidentified
Flying Object) were spotted. The witness is a farmer and he wants to
remain anonymous for fear of being thought silly or even crazy.
During the night, he said he saw a light (very weird) in the sky,
around midnight. He was very shocked, but he just thought he was
imagining things. But after that night he kept thinking about it. He
realised that he really did see something that looked like an UFO and
that it could really be true.
He is the only witness for the moment so you can make up your own
minds. Do you think there could be another planet with life on it? So
with his story and photo we might be able to find out! This farmer
story is one of the most incredible and remarkable one in PoitouCharentes!
The farmer gave us this photo, which represents the UFO on the sky
during the night he saw it

A GOLDEN BEAR IN BERLIN
Interior view of the Berlin International Film Festival 2016
The 66th annual « Berlin International Film Festival » (also called « Berlinale ») was held from 11th February
to 21st February 2016, with American actress Meryl Streep as the President of the Jury and directed by Dieter
Kosslick. This is a festival which puts more than 400 films in competition of every genre, length and format ; it
is divided into nine sections (competition, berlinale shorts, panorama, forum, generation, perspective of
German Cinema, berlinale special, retrospective, homage) and a mutable number of special presentations
(culinary cinema, berlinale goes Kiez, native-a journey into indigenous cinema).
The winner gets the Golden Bear and it happens in many cinemas in Berlin. But the festival is not only awarded
the Golden Bear for best film, there are also several Silver Bears in different categories :Grand Jury Prize, Best
Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Script category: music / camera / costume / set-design, and the Alfred
Bauer Prize in homage to the festival founder for a film which opens new perspectives to the 7th art. Moreover,
Bears are awarded by a jury composed of film professionals and personalities from artistic or cultural circles.
With those of Cannes (France) in May and Venice (Italy) in September, it is one of three major international
film festivals.
This year the « Hail, Caesar! », directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, was selected to open the festival. The Golden
Bear at the Berlinale in 2016 was delivered to the Italian documentary "Fire at Sea" by Gianfranco Rosi,
focused on migrants to Lampedusa through the life of a young boy of 12 years.
Then, the best actress Silver Bear was given to the Danish actress Trine Dyrholm for her role in "The
Community » by Thomas Vinterberg. The 43 years actress interprets in this film a betrayed wife on the edge of
Abyss.
The Silver Bear for Best Actor was awarded to Tunisian Majd Mastoura for his performance in "Hedi". This is
the first Arab production in competition at the Berlinale for 20 years. Majd Mastoura makes a tribute to « The
Tunisian people" and "The martyrs of the revolution" of 2010-2011 in Tunisia when he accepted his award.
Finally the Silver Bear for Best Director was awarded Saturday at the French filmmaker Mia Hansen-Love for
"The future". Fifth feature film by Mia Hansen-Love ("The Father of My Children," "Eden"), the film tells the
story of a philosophy professor, played by Isabelle Huppert, facing to a new freedom when her husband left her.
On top of that the Berlin Film Festival paid tribute to three artists who died in January 2016 by projecting
different films:
-David Bowie, singer and actor ("The Man Who Fell to Earth")
-Alan Rickman, actor and director ("Sense and Sensibility")
-Ettore Scola, director ("Le Bal")

ZIKV : The Zika virus.
The «Zika virus»'s name comes from the Zika forest, where it was discovered for the first time in
1947 in a monkey. This virus is transmitted by a bite of an Aedes mosquito which was infected when
it feeds on a person already infected with the virus. The word «Aedes» means «unpleasant» because
the bite of this mosquito is very sore
(painful). The mosquito usually bites
in the morning, at the end of the
afternoon and at the evening.
The Zika virus is located in the Asian
and African tropicals areas. It has
caused some epidemics: in 2007, in
the Yap islands for example, or in
2013 in Polynesia. But since 2015, it
has affected the American continent:
in Brazil, more than one and a half
million persons have been suffering
from this new epidemic. On February
1st 2016, the World Health Organization declared a «public health emergency of international
concern». Moreover, the scientists have discovered that the virus could be given by sexual
transmission.
The infection caused by the bite gives fevers, articular pains and conjunctivitis (red eyes). These are
the same symptoms as the dengue ones. But the worst part is that it causes a brain malformation for
the babies. Indeed, if a pregnant woman is bitten, her baby could be born with a small brain. It's
called microcephaly.
No vaccine has been found yet to prevent Zika virus disease. So it's advised to wear long-sleeved
shirts and long pants, to stay in places with air conditioning or to use window and door screens to
keep mosquitoes outside, to sleep under a mosquito bed net if you are overseas or outside and are not
able to protect yourself from mosquito bites, and to use condoms during sexual contact (or not
having sex at all). It is necessary to empty and clean the things which could have water because the
mosquitoes can breed in water. The authorities try to eliminate mosquitoes as much as they can with
some insecticides but it's not enough, that's why the Olympic Games of Rio De Janeiro in 2016 could
be cancelled.

Bad news for the metal community
The metal world is disappointed because the Hellfest (a hard rock, heavy metal and punk festival)
which supposed to take place the 17th, 18th and 19th of June is cancelled. But why is it cancelled ?
The Hellfest is not appreciated by the association “ Amis du collectif” : they wrote to the Mayor of
Clisson and to the president of the department council to ask for a cancellation. They were
successful so the festival is forbidden. The Hellfest is really appreciated: during three days, there
were more than 150 000 people who came to the festival last year. But don't worry, be happy, the
festival was replaced by a 80s music concert: you are all welcome!

Young champions !
Sport
Louis Audouin Dubreuil has UNSS handball section. In the early of the year, some teams of LAD tried to
be qualified at the academic competition. Two teams succeeded. They did the academic competition on
February 10th at La Rochelle for the boys and at St Jean d'Angély for the girls, and they both won ! The
boys' team was coached by Sylvie Souquet (on the right) and the girls' team was coached by Stéphanie
Caillaud (on the left). After that, they
were qualified for the inter-academic at
Limoges, but both lost. This was an
excited process with so much
suspense ! We all hope that the high
school will do the same the next year !

Burning times !
Burning times is a music band which began four years ago
with four boys. First, there were Léo Le Blanc who is the
guitarist, Thibault Chedouteaud the bass player, Mael Le
Blanc the drummer and the singer, Oliver Hobson. They
played a lot and trained many times on Fridays evenings
and dreamt of performing in front of an audience. They
mainly play pop rock, blues and a lot of covers of music
such as « Dessert session » and compositions of cosmos.
They said : « We began to play a music note, and continue
with several. This was our childhood dream that became
real. » So, they played in pubs and also for music festivals.
When the boys started the first year of high school they
met Lauren Easum, a good singer, who joined the band
when Oliver left it. Last year, they participated in the Culture Week and it was one of the first Lauren's
concerts so she was very nervous but everything went well. This year they performed many concerts. We
wish them luck and success for the future.
Thank you Léo and Thibault for your participation in this high school newspaper !

The sixth edition of the Culture Week !
This year, the sixth edition of the Culture Week will happen the last week of May, from Monday 23th of
May to Friday 27th of May. This event is organized each year by the teachers and the students, and it’s
always a great success.
During the next Culture Week, pupils will present the different projects created throughout the year
(school outings, contests, posters, etc). They also will able to participate in different workshops like
ballroom dance (rock, salsa or waltz) or improvisational theatre. There will also be a concert the first day
and you will be able to meet the musicians. It is an opportunity to have another vision of our school, to
open ourselves and discover new things. We know that the prize regarding the Greenies competition
about the recycling will take place during the Culture Week ! (read the article about that in the last issue
of Tea Time)
If you want more information about this event, you can ask Misses Gautier (English teacher) and Chillotti
(Arts teacher). The activities program will be distributed to all the
students.
We are very thankful to Maxime Legrix in Terminale STMG 8, and also
to the MDL for their help and their answers.
