[…]Nicole Seiler enchants us with the quality she proposes as she opens up new perspectives
on multimedia art. Some times rattlesnakes and some times suns, since tuesday Mike Winter
and Krassen Krastev, two dancers of undeniable charism, try to express the gestures as read
out-loud by clumsy yet captivated audience members. The two dancers perform in duo, by way
of microphones and interposed screens, on the slippery slope of the virtual transmission of
dance. The result? A rare complicity and cohesion which enables them to dance together, Mike
in Lausanne, Krassen elsewhere. Overcoming the communication based complications due to
internet bugs and a faulty Skype connection, they know from experience that the language of
contemporary dance is complex, but also so human. The spirited questioning on the part of the
choreographer Nicole Seiler reveals her depth and seriousness.

This interactive performance reveals the infinite strata of the language of dance.
To dance, is to absent oneself from articulated language. A vocabulary, however
precise, is inadequate to describe the unicity of a gesture. To describe dance, and
thereby transmit it, is of the order of the inexpressible and perhaps even the
impossible. Nicole Seiler, the Lausanne based choreographer, questions the very
serious act that is the description of dance by way of a performance that is both
playful and interactive.
Un acte sérieux (A serious act) puts two dancers on stage with the help of the
audience. While dancer Mike Winter executes certain movements on stage, an
audience member will try to describe his gestures to Krassen Krastev, another
dancer positioned in a studio some kilometers away. Filmed by a webcam,
transmitted through Skype and projected on a large screen, this latter will try to
reconstitute the movements as faithfully as possible in an intriguing confrontation
between the real and the virtual.
