You’ll have to make for the heights of Liège to find Sart-Tilman in a unique and natural setting, unanimously appreciated by the connoisseur. Designed by Tom Simpson in 1939, this is one of those classic courses which like good fine wine, ages well. At first glance, an appealing and straightforward golf course but one where numerous difficulties gradually emerge. Your best shots will constantly be in demand. Perhaps the fastest and most difficult undulating greens in Belgium which call for a sharp short game and good putting skills. The putting surfaces carefully maintained by Michel Poncelet are a delight. Pin positions must be carefully analysed as even the good player will find scoring here a tough proposition. Sart-Tilman features some stiff par 4s (holes 5 an 11), superb par 3s (hole 2 - which provides a taste of what’s to come) and very challenging par 5s, such as the 500m 14th featuring a green defended by a water hazard and three bunkers. Perhaps most importantly, you will delight in this absolutely superb natural environment which is a real challenge to players of all levels.
